Default What "Zone-V seismic considerations - a level above mandatory" means!

I am aware that a few developers are advertising

"Zone-V seismic considerations - a level above mandatory compliance for the region".

However even this is "Minimum Permisible Safety Standard" which in other words is also called "Earthquake Resistant".

Earthquake Resistant structures are based on "Life Safety Concept".

In Earthquake Resistant Design the Designer endevors to prevent a total building collapse in case of a major earthquake. It also means that the building "Will Have" structural damange in case of a major earthquake and in case the damage is above a threshold level the User/Owner will have no option but to get the building demolished and rebuilt.

There however exist certain technologies like use of energy dissipation devices by using which a safety standard higher that earthquake resistant can be acheived.
