Red face Mall Mania in Ahmedabad : is there room for all ?

How many of the new generation malls will sustain in the long run ? Are retailers betting big on the new generation consumer in ahmedabad ?

Seems so with the way retails spaces have been booked by the top brands. And if their research is anything to go by, its boomtime in retailing in Ahmedabad.

But how long will this sustain ? Any guesses ?

MALLS MUSHROOMING, YET BUSINESS KEEPS BOOMING
Kumar Anand, Ahmedabad
The Indian Express

It’s mall-a-maal for the SG Highway. With the Iscon Mall, a whopping 450 thousand square feet of floor space dedicated to national and international brands all set to begin operations, there is no doubt that the topography of the area is bound to change.

‘‘Ahmedabad, pushed to the Sarkhej-Gandhinagar Highway has seen a major transformation in recent times, opening new vistas for mall developers and shoppers alike. The new spacious area will definitely attract the public who like to explore fresh shopping experiences, in a big way,’’ says Amit Gupta, Director, J P Infrastructure Pvt Ltd, developers of ISCON Mall.

The area and its vicinity has been the venue for major developments in the recent months. In June, Gallops, ‘India’s first designer mall’ came in, adding to the blend of shopping and movie-going experiences already in place with Big Bazaar, Fun Republic and Wide Angle. Over the next few years, as many as 10 malls including a 185,000 square foot hypermarket planned by Reliance, and five multiplexes, including Alpha, Gallops, Kshitij and Savvy, are slated to come up in and around the area.

‘‘With CG Road being clogged and parking problems high, 50 percent of business from there has shifted to the new malls. People are fed up with the chaotic development and are shifting here,’’ says N G Patel who heads the NG Corporation that developed the 1,20,000-square foot Gallops mall.

Exclamation whats the real action on the ground?

A good report indeed

But I'd like to know if Ahmedabad has enough potential for luring investments and what are the real estate prospects. Of course, there were reports of the Chief Minister of Gujarat inviting investors to the State.

But, whats the real action on the ground....any clues!!!

Yes Ahmedabad is booming now in real estate and thats on ground.

I had purchased my twin bunglow 15.25 Lacs in Apr'07 and after just six months now its 18 Lacs.

So the days are coming for ahmedabad.
