Default Visitor messages (on profile) removed

We have chosen to remove the Visitor Messages function of the profile page for each user. We made this decision with the following in mind:

- A fair amount of Visitor Messages are simply spam, unwanted broker services, etc.
- Monitoring VMs is a pain for staff, if not reported by users
- Some users find the multiple systems confusing in nature.
- There is little real function in the VM system that the PMB or open forums don't already provide.

Thank you for understanding.

Great initiative .

I personally dint liked the VM thing , as mostly everywhere there were broker ad's , contact info's or usually direct queries by people . Many people seemed to be confused between visitor message and private message function . Now things will be easy

Hi, I am new to this forum and I don't have the PM functionality enabled. Can you please let me know how I can get this enabled, so I can chat with other members in private. Visitor message was the only other way, which has been disabled. Sorry if I sound daft but I don't know the rules yet.

I believe a post count of ten is required for that. Visitor Messages were not private at all, fyi.

This is a good move.Members have been misusing this facility.Private message facility is really good one.

It is a good idea to avoid being swamped by one time visitors to the forum. This is a sensible forum and returning visitors would be serious about their posts and try not to spam others.
