Default Duplex or Ground floor

Dear all,I have a plane to build a home in my land.My questions is that which model home costs less?? Duplex home or Ground floor home???

see for the same area say 1500 sq ft you build a GF only house it would cost you more than a duplex as the foundation cost will be shared by both and also the weathering course cost would be cut as the terrace area would be halved etc. in chennai its better to buld a duplex as the summer is too cruel
the GF will be cooler and the FF will be 'breezier' and you will have more open space

Thanks for the suggestion.Some of people telling me that if we build a FF,we have spent money for Transferring the material and it's equivalent to Foundation cost.Is it so?? Please clarify

in either case the cost different will not be much about 100/sq ft

Actually a duplex house will retain you so much of the land and you will retain the greenery. It makes a lot of sense to build the duplex from that perspective.
