Default tenant deposit

Dear friends

Would like to know if deposit paid to the landlord while renting a flat can be adjusted against rent.

I have paid a deposit (10 months rent) while renting the flat 4 years ago-the stipulated 4 year period ends in July. Do I have to pay the rent for the 7 months up to July or can it be adjusted against the deposit. The rent agreement stated a 10% increase in rental every year and all that has been duly paid up till now.

Friends -Urgent advice needed.

Yes. You can adjust the advance given against the rent to be paid till you vacate. However, you may have to inform the owner about this.

Do you work on US shifts a serious question on a odd time lol..

For your question, I guess it can be done.
I would say it is in a way better rather than waiting for the money from the landlord.
