Again an interesting thought which can be taken eitherways:

If somebody achieves great heights in his life it can be interpreted in two ways:

1. One who believes in destiny will say "It was his destiny. He was destined to achieve these feats."

2. One who doesnt believe might say "He was poor/helpless But he defined his own destiny to achieve these feats."

Which one of the above two I belong, depends completely on me.

For me its mix of effort and destiny. But the former supercedes in a big way.

This is more about as to what makes you believe in God ???

My personal thought is,

Each one of us are very lucky to be a human being .. not many of us having survival test every moment like most of the other animals, insects.

Now some of us are born lucky or some had to work too hard to get the ends meet.... and some still fail to manage the basics. some people say luck, some say coincidence, some say hard work and some say good deeds of past life!!

Think this way, many of the cricket matches are pre-defined, many of the power decision, be corporate or political are pre-defined ... some even say that Sai baba's death happened earlier and was announced in a later auspicious date and time!! Many people knows this and many people never believe this.

Simple example, your promotion is a news to you but it may not be a news to your boss!!

To know the right thing, you must be at that level with clear visibility .. I do not have that visibility to comment on whether life is pre-defined or not .. whether destiny is fixed or you decide your own destiny!!

I think its just that people feel good when they do something in praise of God like worshipping etc.
They just feel that there is some supreme power that controls everything. The reason being that everything is not explained in science till date. May be the coming generations will be able to explain everything. But not now.
So people are still sticking to their faiths.

Why there is so much cruelty in nature ????

A lion kills infant deer etc (It is really painful even when you watch on TV) !!!!

It can not eat grass, it is not his fault nature has made him like that !!!!!

It is neither the fault of deer !!!!!

Why there is so much pain, misery ?????

Commenerbhai, one thing is certain when you asked these clever questions that you have already had deep thought process on these questions. Please share your thought process too.

One easy explanation is from re-birth theory ... you are washing your previous birth's sins and wrong doings!! Heaven and Hell are both here in this earth!!

If you get times, read some of the Puranas ... it is so wonderful!!

Despite asking so many questions regarding existence of GOD, you will be surprised to know that I am a God fearing person to the core !!!!!!

During my childhood this fear was so deep that I can't really tell you !!!!!

Something happened in 1984 and then for some years I became Athiest !!!!

I have had traumatic time for a cosiderable period of my life !!!!!

I wrote one Article in a Institute Magazine making reference to various ancient Indian Philosphies which say that God does not exist !!!!!

Right now I am definitely not in a position to say anything about my thought process !!!!!!!!

But will definitely share with you when I am fully convinced myself !!!!!

Regarding Sins/Wrongdoings of previous births :

If everything happens according to HIS scheme(nothing moves without his will), then the sins that I commited in my previous births were actually not mine(They were stage managed by God and I was just a puppet in HIS hands) !!!!!!

Then why should I suffer for something I am not resposible for ????
