I just signed a lease for an apartment and went through the process of registering the lease. I would like either the actual registered lease document or a copy to serve as an official proof of residence. Can I expect to receive the actual registered lease document or just a copy of the registered lease?

The Normal convention is that the Owner ( Landlord ) keeps the orginal registered Lease deed ( or Leave license agreement ) and the Tenant is given as certified true copy for his records and use in all purpose.
Legally, a certified True Copy is adequate for all purposes as proof of residence Hope this helps Ram
