Squatters Mar Expressway Prospects

The Times of India (Delhi edition) Uncertainty looms large over the much-hyped Greater Noida-Ghaziabad expressway project that was kicked off four years back, thanks to the large scale encroachments that have come up on both sides of NH-24 as well as lackadaisical attitude of Ghaziabad district administration. The project was undertaken keeping in view the 2010 Commonwealth Games. Although two lanes covering a distance of 10.5 km were completed four years ago at a cost of over Rs 10 crore, work on the remaining 1.5 km, which falls in Ghaziabad side, is yet to be over. Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA) has already paid the compensation amount for the land to be acquired for the construction of the last portion of the road to Ghaziabad district administration. However, the latter is yet acquiring the land due to some unknown reason
