Default DLF tie up for Rs 550cr hotel

After Mumbai, Delhi will be the next destination for international hospitality major Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts. DLF Hotels, the hospitality wing of real estate major DLF, has entered into a management contract agreement with the premium hospitality chain for developing a 250-room super luxury hotel in Gurgaon with an investment of around Rs 550 crore.

Plans are to complete the hotel project before Commonwealth Games in 2010. The hotel will be built in DLF Golf and Country Club, as part of the DLF’s ambitious integrated city in New Gurgaon, being developed on lines of Manhattan in New York. At present, Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts, is giving finishing touches to its first property in the country at Mumbai, which is expected to open by the year end. Four Seasons has presence in more than 30 countries with 75 hotel properties.

DLF and Hilton have a 74:26 JV for putting in place 75 hotel properties across the country over an seven year period. Hilton’s agreement with the DLF Group is exclusive for three brands in Hilton portfolio namely, Hilton, Hilton Garden Inn, and Homewood Suites, essentially targeting the mid-segment market.

The real estate major has drawn out ambitious plans in the hospitality sector to develop 25,000 hotel rooms over the next five years.

Dear friend,

Is the Comonwealth Games 2010 to be conducted in Delhi? The infrastructure to hold the event may not be ready in time?

Comonwealth Games 2010 would definately be conducted in Delhi and I am confident that the Govt would come up with the infrastructure as well. The quality of the infrastructure and whether it would be sufficient is another question.

As far as hotel rooms are concerned, new hotels are comming up. A five star hotel has recently come up in Sec-55 Noida (NCR). The development of many other hotels has slowed due to the recession.
