Thumbs up 4 day exhibition of properties at Thane

Thane is a city in itself, rather than a suburb of Mumbai

The four-day exhibition of properties at Thane, organized by Maharashtra Chamber of Housing Industry, Thane unit, got off to a great start on April 28, 2007, taking advantage of the long weekend, with Maharashtra Day on May 1. The venue was packed with exhibitors as well as customers thronging the stalls, in search of the best bargain in both properties as well as financing products.
Such events provide a platform for developers to become active contributors to the city development. Developers give the public better homes, layouts and other landmarks so the government should view developer's problems sympathetically. It is only with the teamwork displayed by the state government, the municipal offices along with NGOs, environmental groups working with the developers that a city can become self-sustaining.

With regard to infrastructure, facilities, connectivity- the best of everything is available in Thane. Also the social oriented work that are taking place here including the new police station of the Thane Police.

Generally builders are area specific and real estate is largely an unorganised sector. Now the picture is dominated by professionals, with expansion to other cities being the norm. The influx of FDI has afforded builders with cheaper funds and also brought in value additions like better amenities. It has become a user driven market, where Thane scores with a very 'value for money' image.

Thane has a locational advantage with availability of land, abundant greenery and all possible products being offered in a five kilometer radius - right from a 1BHK to a villa or a 5BHK penthouse apartment, or even a farmhouse second home. There are three malls in operation with four more coming up, and a total of eight theatres already operational. There are even two clubs within the city limits. However Thane's water, road and drainage systems need an uplift. Also more public parks are needed.

The customer gets a better deal at such events, so the importance of having such events regularly has grown. Today Thane is a city rather than a suburb of Mumbai, which reflects the efforts put in by the administration, both present and past to attract investments. As Thane was a competitively priced product, it prospered.
