SEZ in India is as hot as real estae. The issue that has always been raised is 'LAND ACQUISITION' and the ways of acuiring land by the private entities.
If talking on GOA specifically..we know the scarcity of land ovr there. Goa is a small state, having scarcity of land resource and around 40% area of it is already under forest land and coastal land on the other side limiting the scope of its territory expansion. Sooo this tiny state wants to develop special economic zones (SEZs), but does not know how to acquire land for them?? Jus go thru this recent article briefing the situation. Quote:

I do think that they are going to acquire the forest mand costal lnd for the sez, as they would have to jus deport the persons living in the forest from there. that wold be easy for them.

Now Govt should revoke the SEZ policy. The real estate developers are really making too much money from this. Where the main beneficial like Govt/ Commoon man are very less. Company like Unitech/DLF/Omaxe each has 2000+ acre of land in name of SEZ. Thay are only just building the Asset size.

Arin, you as a common man can make money by buying the shares of DLF, Unitech and other real estate development.
SEZ will provide the country with the development it needs in order to continue to grow at the pace it is for the next decade or so. We will all benefit from this in the future for sure. |
