Keppel Land in Kolkata
Keppel Land is the property arm of the Keppel Group, one of Singapore's largest multinational groups. It has a diversified portfolio in Asia with a current focus in Singapore, China, India, Vietnam and Indonesia
Keppel Land is developing a 1,372-unit high-rise condominium in Kolkata, the economic centre of West Bengal and a major IT hub. A 74-26% joint venture with Magus Estates and Hotels Pvt. Ltd (26%), the 25-acre site is located within the Rajarhat Township, a new 7,600-acre integrated township with a target population of about 1.5 million people. The Rajarhat Township is 15km east of the Kolkata city centre, and caters to the city’s expansion to the east. It is a 30-minute drive from the city centre, and a 20-minute drive from the Dum Dum International Airport, Eastern India’s only international airport. Also in proximity is the upcoming Rajarhat Expressway, which links the Rajarhat Township to all other parts of Kolkata.
The development stands to benefit from the comprehensive planning of the Rajarhat Township, which will have a mix of residential, retail, entertainment, commercial, IT and light industry components as well as other complementary social and civic amenities. These include upcoming IT Parks by renowned international and local developers; India's largest convention centre; City Centre II, a major shopping centre in Kolkata city; JW Marriott Hotel; Tata Medical Centre and Delhi Public School, among many others. To be developed in two phases, the residential development is expected to complete by mid-2011. When completed, the development will offer residents a host of recreational amenities such as a swimming pool, a clubhouse, a gymnasium and a children’s playground within landscaped grounds.
