Its a Sunday and I have lots of free time
![]() Inspired by gharondabhai's thread on the NRI buyer, I thought of profiling the various types of IREF users Disclaimer: Its all tongue in cheek. Kindly contribute or lambast at pleasure. The various types/traits are 1. The IT 'investor' Guy in a hurry: The primary traits: a. Has stumbled upon a lifetime opportunity aka group 'corporate' deal. b. Has only two days to make the decision. Behavior patterns a. Will look for that one post which speaks highly of that project, even if others point out logically why the opportunity is not worth it. b. Will PM the guy who speaks highly of that project. End Result a. Will eventually buy into the project. b. Will be beaming ear to ear on his comprehensive research. c. If still active, will defend his investment stoutly. 2. The 'dumb' broker Primary traits a. Will create two liner threads praising the project. b. Will try to masquerade as the investor in a hurry guy. c. Will definitely use the golden words "Rates are going up next week.." Behavior Patterns a. Same posts in multiple threads. b. Willingness to share contact numbers/mail IDs/ 'Inside Info' End Result: a. Is too dumb to remember the login/password after a month. b. Will be exposed and create a new login ID. Repeat process again. c. The commission stops - the promotion stops. 3. The 'smart' Broker Primary Trait a. Will avoid praising any project excessively. b. Will avoid multiple IDs initially or use some IP masquerading s atleast. Behavior Pattern a. Will avoid all the mistakes of the personality type "The dumb Broker" b. Will copy the traits of the personality type " The RE Expert" End Result: a. Will carry about his business quietly. b. Will have atleast a few "The End User" personality types hanging onto him. 4. The RE Expert/ Investor Chacha Primary Traits a. Will write long posts. b. Will write long posts. Behavior Pattern a. Will write long posts. b. Will write long posts. c. Investor Chacha sub class: Is generally a big shot with multiple investments. Will let all know this coolly. End Result: a. Will continue writing long posts. b. Will always continue holding the same views even if data proves otherwise. 5. The End User Primary Traits: a. Is confused between at least two heavily marketed projects. b. Is investing his life savings. c. Initially, has only two days or is one of those who missed the 2009-2010 low prices. Behavior Pattern a. Is dangerously close to the "The IT Investor Guy" personality type behavior pattern. b. Has better patience and googling skills than the first personality type. c. Eventually realizes that all builders are chors - upto what extent.. is the question. d. Gets confused on the Buying Vs Renting debate. e. Is heavily influenced by the 'Smart Broker' and 'RE Expert' personality types. End Result: a. Makes a more or less wise decision and hopes for the best. b. Starts defending his project like 'The IT Investor guy' personality type. c. Or, starts getting traits of the "The RE Expert" personality type. These seem like the primary personality types. Sub types and newer traits are always coming up. Biwi is coming up with breakfast. I am coming up with a new excuse for the "laptop subaah subaah" crime under Husband Penal Code Section 3. Cheers! Good one - but missing one more profile -
Wella Guy A typical IT guy who has too much time and is a chatter box - does not have any investment but dreams of having one- will be present in almost all sections - will be writing his views - views will move with direction of the wind - end result - as the starting - he will continue creating new threads and keep on writing as per the direction of the wind. rohit |

Mikhail, I appreciate your initiative.
But I think that there are more suave people in category 5 who are taking advantage of the more vocal among us. |

I have myself transcended from the "investor" mentality to the "my own nest" phase and hope for the best. |
