Hi all,
Can anyone guide me on the amount on which service tax is payable. IS it payable only on the rent or does it also include security deposit. Aruna |

Hi..
Service tax is not payable on the Security Deposit amount and is payable only on the rent. I guess its 12.36%. Ideally Service Tax is required to borne by the Landlord / Owner but is usually passed on to the tenant / retailer. Infact this is another hidden side to commercial retail leasing. Normally when the rent figures are quoted to a brand, the service tax clause is not disclosed and sometimes come as an absolute shocker to the prospective tenant. |

Its a pity that a reputed firm like Price Water House has to resort this sort of advt./spamming to market itself.
