Delhi's Rail Yatri Niwas will be converted into a 100-room budget hotel by the Tata-owned Taj Group of Hotels under the brand name Ginger hotel.

Tata group firm Indian Hotels Company Ltd (IHCL), which operates the Taj Group of Hotels, had earlier been awarded the right to operate the prime property, near Connaught Place in New Delhi, for 15 years by Indian Railways.

"Rail Yatri Niwas in Delhi will be converted into a Ginger Hotel," IHCL Senior Vice President Anil Goel said here today, while announcing the company's third quarter results.

The Ginger brand will serve travellers' needs at low cost.

Leading hotel groups are joining hands with the Railways to build budget hotels across the country. The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has already awarded land to private players to develop hotels in seven places on "build, operate and transfer" (BOT) basis and refurbish Rail Yatri Niwas located at four places including in New Delhi.

So, there is a new string coming ahead in the Indian hospitality sector ----BUDGET HOTELS
