After Delhi, it’s now Gurgaon’s properties which are under the sealing scanner. District Town Planner, Enforcement, has sealed more than 115 of the 369 residential premises in HUDA sectors which are being used for commercial purposes and the remaining 254 will face sealing soon.
A total of 1,319 properties are under the Enforcement Department’s scanner and all have been served notices. Sources say that Enforcement Department has asked violators to shut shop within a month. More than half of the total violations are in the DLF area. DLF Phase III tops the chart with a total of 231 residential premises being used for commercial purposes. Real estate shops, fitness centres, beauty parlours, departmental stores, cellular towers on roof tops, health clinics are among the establishments being run in residential premises, add sources. The Punjab and Haryana High Court had ordered disconnection of electricity and water connections of illegal establishments if owners fail to close their shops within the stipulated time. Traders, meanwhile, blame 'unprecedented development' in Gurgaon for rise in the number of illegal construction and has also given rise to a number of residential premises being used for commercial use. Will this affect Gurgaon's real estate prospects? |

Hi Everyone,
After having cleaned up illegal constructions in the Capital, the sealing drive has now turned its heat to Gurgaon, where the enforcement department of HUDA has already put its warnings into effect by sealing 26 properties in DLF Phase – I. Moreover, the authorities have announced to display 15 sites daily and they will auction them off. The sealed premises include six clinics, an IT office, nine real estate agents’ offices, a restaurant, three guesthouses, three boutiques, a preparatory school, a building housing a cellular tower and a car service station. The agency had earlier given a jolt to realty developers by sealing 104 residential properties where commercial activities were being undertaken. This time, High Court has decided to take stringent actions against the defaulters and ordered to disconnect the electricity and water supply to illegal establishments if the owners fail to close their shops within the stipulated time. Are the authorities really coming into action or their enthusiasm will die down soon?

Can there be more reasons for Gurgaon traders not to protest much against these sealings?
