PALWAL IS soon going to become a transport hub in the National Capital Region (NCR).

The Master Plan for Palwal suggests that the rail overbridge (ROB) on the Palwal-Aligarh crossing is in the final stage and the construction of the Kundli-Manesar-Palwal (KMP) Expressway has also begun. Palwal will have a big cargo for road, rail and air transport Sources in the NCR Planning Board said that in view of the feasibility of setting up the transport hub in Palwal, a survey for a dry port and freight corridor was conducted recently. The development of Palwal would take place in another five years as per the Master Plan 2021.

The provision for the facilities was made quite early, in the Master Plan 1997. The plan was made under the ministerial tenure of area MLA Karan in 1997. Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA) sources said that in the absence of a proper warehouse in Delhi and NCR, Palwal is being developed as a transport hub. The Palwal transport hub assumes importance in view of the fact that the minister of civil aviation has given a go ahead for an airport in Greater Noida. Due to the proximity of the Palwal-Aligarh ROB to the proposed airport in Greater Noida, Palwal seems to be the best choice for becoming a transport hub. HUDA sources said that the district town planner (enforcement) will soon start removing the encroachments along the proposed transport hub.
