Default hi

Thanks Ashky.

I remember the Gulf ENergy city plan. It seems they have been making slow but steady progress.
Its greate you figured out the location. I couldn't understand the location from the masterplan. (The railway divides into two :-))

HOK website also mentions about megacity. Given that HOK charges a fortune to design, it seems that GFH are sincere about this. However the big issue would be land acquisition.

From HOK:
Mega City Navi Mumbai will be a sustainable city of mixed-use neighborhoods with focused development in three distinct land areas: Entertainment City, Energy City, and IT and Telecommunication City. Located along the Mumbai-Pune business corridor, the vibrant new city will attract world-class businesses. Navi Mumbai will be supported by the type of infrastructure, community facilities, retail and entertainment services required to create an integrated live-work community. It should set a sustainable precedent for similar large-scale developments in India.

Default hi

Hi Krishna,

The commercial property is supposedly being planned as Indiabulls has acquired more land. All the information we have is about residential flats.
You could contact Indiabulls directly to know if they have plans for commercial space in this project.

Default News article from TOI

Not that I intend to waste anyone's time. If anyone feels these articles are not necessary in this thread, lemme know through a private message and I will henceforth resist posting news articles:

From TOI:

Navi Mumbai expo sells 5,000 flats in three days

Mumbai: A property exhibition at Navi Mumbai not only drew in huge crowds but also did big business—about 5,000 flats were sold in three days.
Initially, most Navi Mumbai builders were reluctant to participate in the three-day exhibition because of the recession. By Monday, they were buoyed by the unexpected response. “According to rough estimates, the overall transactions were well over Rs 1,000 crore,’’ said Suresh Haware, chief of the Maharashtrian Builders Forum. “We are still in the process of calculating the number of flats sold. But it was most likely over 5,000.’’ Shops, small flat sales are moving fast
Mumbai: An office-bearer of the Builders Association of Navi Mumbai said over 1 lakh people visited the 3-day property exhibition, while 60 builders from Navi Mumbai, Mumbai, Thane and neighbouring areas exhibited their properties. Last year, the response was very poor as the exhibition was held soon after the 26/11 attack.
The builders found that there was more demand for flats in Kharghar, Panvel, Khandeshwar and Kamothe. Besides flats, there was a huge demand for shops too. “Surprisingly, we found that there were no takers for big flats—so, very few flats of 3,000 sq ft or more were sold. Flats between 600 and 800 sq ft were the most in demand,’’ Haware said.

Default NH17 Widening Project

From TOI:

Activists and journalists from Raigad, Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg districts have decided to intensify their agitation for widening of the Mumbai-Goa highway.
“We have already announced our decision to form a human chain on January 20 near Karnala bird sanctuary to make our voices heard. However, after Monday’s accident, we have decided to draft a new strategy to expedite the widening of the stretch,’’ S M Deshmukh, who is leading the agitation, said.
Congress MP Nilesh Rane, who represents Sindhudurg in the Lok Sabha, said it was time the state and central governments took steps to prevent such mishaps. “I have already submitted a proposal for making the crucial link into a four-lane highway or expressway. Though funds can be made available, I am not sure if the villagers will co-operate. Currently, farmers in the entire Konkan region are reluctant to part with the land for any project. But I hope they will do the needful for the road-widening at least. After all, their help can go a long way in saving innocent lives,’’ he told TOI.
A senior public works official said that with protests gathering steam, the state government will take up the issue with the Centre on a priority basis. “Land acquisition for the cause will not be a problem since it is in public interest. Once the Centre issues a notification, the National Highways Authority of India will step in and acquire the land,’’ he said.

----------------------------------

I fully agree that like Pune, Goa is an important destination and Mumbai-Goa should be made an expressway.

Dams planned for CIDCO:

Balganga project is located in the Raigad district and the irrigation department has alloted water to City and Industrial Development Corporation. Most of this will be given to Navi Mumbai area. The Balganga project will cost Rs 488.38 crore and will supply 395 mld.
Officials said that it will take about five years to complete the dam construction and water supply lines once the environmental clearances come.

Hi Ashky,

Yes, the Marathon NexZone is not too far from the project. It has three phases. It also has some residential space planned, apparently (walk to work :-) hype).

The MahaMumbai (MMSEZ) is probably not happening. Reliance is frustrated to have not been able to acquire more than 25% of the land (10k hectares). It has fire 3/4th of its 2000 staff for the project and is apparently looking to sell the project to ILFS or someone else.
The NMSEZ however is more optimistic. It is not too big and hence may have lesser land aquisition problems.

I would more look forward to the transharbour link/airport then to these SEZs as SEZs will bring along lot of residential space internally.

As per the news articles: "Maharashtra based Sanvo resorts have also applied for denotification of their Panvel based information technology SEZ. Sanvo has not undertaken any development activity in the zone and hence has not availed tax or duty benefits."
This came in financial express sometime in July, from what I remember
