Default TOI - Noida - Greater Noida Expressway to become tolled

http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/c...ow/5644679.cms

Taj expressway to open before Games

GREATER NOIDA: The six-lane Taj expressway, which will cut Delhi-Agra travel time by an hour and ease congestion on the Mathura Road route, will be ready for traffic before the Commonwealth Games. Work on the project, scheduled for full completion only by April 2013, is being speeded up on the orders of UP chief minister Mayawati who wants to ensure that visitors arriving for the Games get a smooth ride to Agra.

Stating this, Y K Bahl, additional CEO of Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority added that Mayawati had recently met officials of JP Infratech -- the project builders -- and asked them to make sure that the stretch is ready for traffic by September 30. Initially, travel time on the expressway (Greater Noida to Agra) will be around three hours. This will reduce to two hours when the project is fully complete.

This is good news also for Greater Noida and other NCR residents who would get a fast link to Agra, Aligarh, Mathura and Hathras. However, as per the project contract, the 21.5km Greater Noida expressway will be handed over to JP Infratech and will become a toll road with the opening of the 165km Taj expressway.

The Taj expressway is being built from Pari Chowk in Greater Noida to Agra. Said Bahl, "Our objective is to ultimately reduce the time taken to reach Agra from Pari Chowk in Greater Noida to two hours. But many of the facilities cannot be completed before the Games. So, the time taken could be closer to three hours, for the present. JP Infratech is contractually bound to complete the road along with all facilities only by April 2013. Of course, the actual full completion may come much earlier."

Bahl said the expressway will eventually have five 5 toll plazas, six interchanges (clover leaves) and seven stops for facilities like fuel pumps, shopping, motels and garages. But, all this can not be completed before the Games. So for the present, motorists will have to go off the expressway through temporary roads. A clover leaf being constructed at Pari Chowk is also likely to be completed a month or two after the games.

It is not yet clear how much toll will ultimately be charged for the use of the Taj expressway or the Noida-Greater Noida expressway.

This would mean doom for express way projects and will further dampen the prices in the Greater Noida area...
This will also lead to all the habitants of exp way projects using the service lanes and will eventually mean jams similar to what are seen on NH24/Indirapuram... Correct me if I am wrong please.

Deeps78,

The expressway will have five 5 toll plazas, six interchanges (clover leaves) and seven stops for facilities like fuel pumps, shopping, motels and garages.

There facilities would be between Noida and Agra.

Do not assume that all these would be provided between Noida and Greater Noida which is hardly 21 kms.

Think of having five 5 toll plazas, six interchanges (clover leaves) and seven stops for facilities like fuel pumps, shopping, motels and garages within a gap of 21 kms lol lol lol.

Angry

I believe the whole Jaypee Project , Panache and Sector 137 would get affected if one cannot use expressway to reach them ......
I believe many people thought expressway as the major driving force ( connectivity ) for booking in these sectors as compared to sector 75/76.....

Having Sector roads is good but yes there will be red lights and JAms when these sectors become inhabited 4-5 yrs down the line......

People who have booked in Sec 137,Panache and Jay pee please comment what are your views ??????

Guys,

I think everyone is getting hyper and overboard about this entire Expressway issue. Here is what I think about it:

1. Currently the Noida RE market is in irrational / bubble / complete hyped-up state. So, all companies (whether they have rights over E-way or not) would make claims as it suits their commercial interests. Remember, a big infra company in the mix here is planning to come out with a large IPO soon. So, there is big money involved here. And IPO's get sold on future revenue streams (which in this case would be toll plaza revenue). So, they would definitely want to *project* a large number of vehicles using the toll plazas on the entire E-way stretch.

2. Issue of CWG - during the event, closing down all exits maybe makes sense to give the phirangs a feel of autobahn b/w delhi and agra. But once all this hype and hoopla about CWG, sports city and F3 gets over, think about it - if you own th E-way, would you not want to have exits to sectors like 93 A, 110, 137, etc - because otherwise all those vehicles would not take the toll road. And Delhi - G.Noida or Agra is not going to be such a heavy use road that they can easily ignore the local traffic. Compare it with DND - even they did provide an exit to Mayur Vihar (although they had to construct the huge loop for that). I am not comparing the traffic which goes from Delhi to Mayur Vihar via the DND but illustrating that if you are a toll road owner, you want maximum people to use your road. Else, it doesnt make business sense.

3. RE players on both side of Expressway - do you think they can manage the bureaucracy to get 2 exits on the entire Noida - G. Noida stretch? THe total value of RE on both sides of E-way would be atleast more than the entire RE of G.Noida (guessing here). So, from govt's point of view too, it makes sense.

There is a lot of talk and things might be different in near term. In the long run, better sense would prevail - or so I hope.

Comments?

That was my thinking earlier too and i am still hopeful that all this is hogwash...anyways lets hope for best...

ur reasoning, if seen logically is good but alas govt hardly works logically...

and tolled or not tolled, i still believe eway apartments are still best for people working in south delhi, sec 16 area........and going forward a much better location than other sectors in the future considering the office space and kind of companies on eway....

the prime office development on noida in future will happen on eway....and in south delhi - jasola dist centre is the only availaible space ......
