Great view !
Few points on higher floors : 1. More security issues 2. Moving goods up is a big problem . 3. Murphy's law holds true for lifts and gensets . In Pune , water and electricity is and will always be a problem . 4. Water pressure at higher floors is lower in upper floors compared to lower ones . 5. Children and parents would like to be playing and strolling in the garden frequently . Upper floors are a hindrance to this . By the way even 5th floor is a bit high if you've to go up-down a few times without a lift . One person died of a heart attack in our society due to severe stress/fear when the lift broke down . |

You just cannot escape if construction quality is poor!Quote:
In my hometown Ahmedabad, lower floors are always preferred and command a premium - and mind you, there are no power cuts there, still high floors are not preferred. That may partially be due to the 2001 earthquake effect and partially because we have nothing like "stunning view" in Ahmedabad, its a big, dense, overpopulated, concrete jungle. In fact after 2001, even high rises were converted to low rises by builders just so that they could sell

I don't think security is an issue at the top floor. Or to say it correctly it is as much an issue as it is on any other floor. If the security system/staff is not good, any floor will be at risk.
Also we do not get water from PMC directly. It is stored in tanks at ground level and then pumped to the tanks on the terrace. So water pressure issues are not likely. I have an apartment on the top floor (3rd floor) and I get a beautiful view of the hills from SB road. And I have never had any issues with water seepage from the terrace. So though I currently live at the top floor, I would be wary about living on the floors above 7th. It would take a special case to change my mind. I am not against the high floors though. Who does not want a good view and an airy apartment? But the infrastructure in Pune (power cuts, maintainability of lifts etc) would make me reconsider my options. In the worst case scenario, if there are power cuts daily for a month or two, will the generators be able to support the lifts without failure? These are just my thoughts. Like I had said before, its purely a personal choice. Since people invest their hard earned money, they should go with what suits them best. Situations will be different at every housing scheme even in Pune. There cannot be generalization on any floors with these variations. Last edited by nikhil_05; 30-12-10 at 11:52 PM. |
