I wish Hinjewadi could be a bit clean.

Hey this is my personal opinion, People pounce upon me if I start cursing Hinjewadi. I am sure there are many IT companies all over Pune

http://www.punediary.com/itcomp_1.html

Its upto you to find good ones, I am sure there are many who have a lock on their door on week ends and almost never work late hours and salary very good, depends on your skills too.
You can even stay in next building where your office is in proper Pune too, not just BR or Megapolis.

Among finger countable companies in Hinjewadi, Infy and Wipro are at the bottom of my list of desired companies to work.(hey personal choice ok.)
MBT I have one friend who came onsite with family in CA, returned back in 3 months because he could not afford there with family on his salary and was saving better in India. All in all these Hinjewadi companies pay you very bad at offshore and onsite, only good for bachelors willing to go onsite and who share their apartment with atleast 4 others in foreign countries.

Agree with Rajesh...These companies suck....just compare the billing rate to the customer and your salary...billing is at least 10 times more than salary!!! With all the tax bies from the govt, where is the money going folks!!

One thing which I fail to understand is why people think only of themselves while buying a house? If parents are staying with you & they want to go to say theatre (live concert, not movie), what will they do? Similarly, townships will provide school, gym etc. but what if your daughter wants to learn bharatnatyam & son Salsa? What about drawing classes, music classes? Who will teach them all these in townships? I know people who send their kids out of Magarpatta City for extra-curriculum activities.

Hubby-wife; wife-hubby (or GF-BF for live-ins), that's the end of the story. So self centric the people have become.

Man, you are the 11th person who has said this:- If on-site, it has to be a bachelor with another 4 people sharing the apartment. I know some ITGs whose family stays in Pune while he works abroad!! Man, what's the use of all this when you can't enjoy with your family? I would rather prefer merchant navy then, 9.5 months job, 2.5 months holiday!! The life is much more adventurous as well. Hear some really exciting stories about sea life when I meet my friends in merchant navy (one of my friend had close shave with Somalian pirates; other had seen ghost on a ship).

Well I share the exact same emotion - but sadly I am one such "ITG" !!
And if you ask me .. I think my biggest worry in my life is to get a place for me and my family - mom dad / wife (future :p )
If thats sorted - I think I would be a happy with a salary of 25k a month and hopefully live happily ever after !!!

Seems you too are single. Then in that case you can think with your head. Btw, man don't worry about the place, with will, you will get a beautiful one & yep there is no need to buy in Pune only, who knows, some other better option may open up as well.

* I too never imagined myself to be house-hunting in Pune just 3 years ago & see where I stand today- searching for house all across the city in areas where I never went before.

I started my search just 3 months back. Have lived in Bombay all my life but the rates there are so frightfully expensive and just not worth it considering the quality of life. Now I am checking out Pune as well (since I have relatives in Pune). Btw, I am single & an ITG

I have learnt a lot by going through the various discussions & I believe I am more informed now. Especially, views & comments of senior members who live in Pune help a lot since they offer a ground level perspective.

I was thinking of BR / Megapolis initially but have decided against it considering the cons....so the search continues

You are mixing things mate... I am an ITG and know little more.. Company, which gives good salary in India, gives less salary at onsite (MNCs) and vice versa (Indian company). I personally feel, salary and opportunity depend on your skill sets, and if you have these good skills, company doesn't matter.
Hingewadi is definitely best area if you area in IT industry, as you have many option available all the time, and you don't need to change your house and life.
By the way I don’t work in Hingewadi J
