People buy house to settle down & they prefer Hinjewadi as there are several companies in Hinjewadi. They dont change cities to change job, they just go to another company in Hinjewadi. Staying near to office really helps in work-life balance.

People in IT change places /city more often.
It might be your case that your workplace is same (hinjewadi) even after changing jobs but not for most people.
Even if you are just talking about pune, there r many companies in magarpatta, viman nagar, kalyani nagar which are far away from Hinjewadi.

Whats the need to go to Magarpatta when u could get the job next door & this is the reason most people want to live near hinjewadi. I know there are bachelors who work in IT who work late hours, change job frequently, change cities frequently and roam around for no reason like a headless chicken(please don't take offence - this is what you do ), spoil the IT work culture. There is absolutely no problem for them buying an appartment in manhattan for namesake.
My phoket ki rai only hold true for people who want to settle down.

No one will change cities for no reason. Definately they must be getting better opportunity/salary/chance to move to their native place, for e.g. Marathi people working in Hyd, if he/she gets good offer from company in Pune, they will definately try to move.

Fail to understand why you call people changing cities as headless chicken.

I believe it is better to buy house in your home-town or place where you want to settle after retirement or later in career.

I find it is hassle-free to rent out near work-place as it gives me lots of choice in term of areas as well as apartments.
My logic is simple, if I want cow-milk daily, I will buy it. Need NOT have cow at home as maintaining would be hassle.

I guess, people buy house for status, investment, tax-saving or they feel more secured in owned-house???
Infact decades back it was prestigious to have good number of cows and horses at home

Sir it seems that you are lucky enough to get job in same location which you desire with all your expectations coming true.

I totally disagree with you on this. No one is happy to work late hours or change city frequently but many times its an matter of not getting right opportunity. And don't you think that binding to a place or a location hurts your Job opportunities and expectation.

Having office close to office is good but not necessary. One can live with travel. And can change job to near by company.

Whatever it is, 5-7 years from now Hinjewadi will be very developed with 2 huge townships, malls, multiplexes, hospitals etc and many big companies in the proximity. Rates will definitely soar there and rentals will never be a problem. Infrastructure is poor right now, but it will improve with time. I personally dont find the BlueRidge project attractive right now, but if I had surplus money, I would have definitely considered it as a long term investment.

As regards staying close to office, I think its very important and it doesnt matter if your office is in Hinjewadi or Kharadi. The natural tendency is to stay close to where you work if you want a good work-life balance. Sometimes you do need to travel a lot to work, but I'm sure no one prefers that by choice. Also there is no good or bad in companies. something bad for someone might be good for someone, so no use generalizing.

I don't know why people pay rates of Baner for village. BR is not in PMC but in some village governed by gram-panchayat. Magarpatta was in PMC, was not dependent on single crowd (BR is totally dependent on ITGs working solely at Hinjewadi) yet MP city it is taking more than 10 years to complete. Even now MP City is cheaper than BR despite being complete in terms of infra.
Ofcourse, Paranjape does have backing of Vilasrao, but winning elections is different than selling flats, ofcourse, if buyers don't act as voters now:p.
