Default What amenities are most useful in day to day life?

There are so many advertisements about amenities like:
Swimming pool
Clubhouse with WiFi
Grand entrance gate
5 star air conditioned lobby
Electronic mood lighting inside the flat.

Most of these amenities are totally useless in day to day living.

What would be the amenities that really enhance the quality of life as well as make the housing society and its residents a responsible citizen of Pune?

Some examples:
Well maintained vermiculture / bioculture pit for wet garbage (maintained by builder as perfectly as he maintains the landscaped garden)
Drip irrigation for garden, using recycled grey water for garden.
Rain water harvesting and storage, actually using this rain water for toilet flush, washing vehicles, bathing, cooking and drinking (in order of purification ability)
Solar panel lights for parking areas.
Adequate solar water heaters
Open, safe and vehicle free area for kids to play.
Approach road developed and lighted by builder in new areas.

What else would be good amenities? We Punekars can define in a unique way!

Good ones you've got there.

I'll be happy with 24x7 water-electricity, and security.

Motion sensor based lighting (with delayed shutoff) in staircase. So that staircase bulbs do not remain on at 4 a.m., wasting electricity.

If those motion sensors are connected to bulbs as well as alert lights in the security cabin, the watchman will come to know if someone is moving about in the wee hours of night.

For far off areas like Balewadi, what's the harm in buying a tempo traveller for the society (5 lakhs) and keeping a driver?
This tempo traveller can have trips at regular intervals from the society to some main chowk.
Example:
From Balewadi to Aundh parihar chowk and University circle and back.

I have seen some societies doing this but later the plan flopped as everyone was demanding timing according to his/her convenience.
As said before, 10 heads in 10 directions.

Steam and Jacuzzi are very important. Apart from this it is a must to have an air conditioned Gym with a training instructor from Gold gym. Afterall health is more important. As far as security goes, finger print or eye scanners should be installed in the buildings and you should have CCTVs monitoring every activity in the society. If you get 24 hrs water and electricity, that would be a bonus for all the misdeeds you have done in your pichla janam.

how many societies will implement this features once builder handover them the charge?

If you expect all these from builders, they will start charging more. As one of the member said '10 heads in 10 direction'

if solar panel is important for one (eco friendly), gym and swimming pool is for other (health cautious).

There is no end of demands like this. However, I personally feel Solar lights in common area with movement sensor flood lights in night should be sufficient.

Others in the list of amenities could include Library, Common dining hall, Wedding hall, Temple, Mediation hall, Theatre, Shopping mall (last two are there in Celestial City, Ravet, Rama group)

Just my 2 cents anyway ....

Dear all,
  • sufficient and trained security persons at the gate and parking areas.
  • 24x7 light & water with backup for electricity within the flats.
  • better brand for lifts with specs like ARD, floor announcement, intercom and liftman (if possible).
  • STP for recycling of water for garden, flushing.
  • Solar water in toilets.
  • better selection in plantation withiin and around the premises.
  • atleast 100% parking.
  • officially appointed maids, landry man, milkman, paperwala having records at local police station.
  • crush within the amenity space to facilite working families.
  • atleast video door for security purpose.

I feel a 24-hrs medical shop with on-emergency call doctor,a convenience store, and les-concierges service would be a great advantage and use.

Also if possible, to have a reputed fully functional school within the campus would be a highlight USP.
