Default Bangalore Metropolitan Task Force files FIR against R Ashoka

BANGALORE: Bangalore Metropolitan Task Force (BMTF) police have filed an FIR against deputy chief minister and home minister R Ashoka for alleged irregularities in the allotment of bagair hukum land to mayor D Venkatesh Murthy.

Murthy and his wife had allegedly obtained eight acres of land at Somanahalli, near Uttarahalli, claiming to be landless farm labourers. Ashoka was allegedly on the bagair hukum land allotment panel.

The BMTF had earlier filed a case against Murthy and his wife. The couple approached the high court, which granted a stay in the case. Ashoka was later issued a showcause notice in the case by BMTF.

BMTF chief RP Sharma did not respond to calls.

Default House that! 12 Bangalore Development Authority services under Sakala

BANGALORE: M Eshwarappa, a Bangalorean, is hopeful of starting work on his dream house within a fortnight. K Venkat Reddy, another resident of the city, too is confident that he can start construction work on his multi-storey structure by next month.

On Friday, Eshwarappa and Reddy had all the reasons to feel buoyed as deputy chief minister and Bangalore in charge minister R Ashoka personally received their applications seeking sanction for their building plans. The occasion marked the extension of Sakala to 12 Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) services, including building plan approval.

The 12 BDA services brought under the ambit of Sakala, the scheme promising time-bound delivery of various services, also include khata, khata transfer and possession and occupancy certificates among other things.

Eshwarappa had sought sanction under the BDA approved private layouts that promise delivery within 15 days of application. Reddy wanted nod for building up to 15 m high and was promised approval within 30 days.

"Ours is the only state that now has 265 schemes under Sakala and that is what makes the scheme so important," said Ashoka, at the launch. It is learnt that in most other states where a sort of Sakala scheme is active only 10-20 services are covered.

Default Rental values plunge on Brigade Road, Commercial Street

BANGALORE: The city's centre of gravity is moving from the central business district to the suburbs, mimicking a phenomenon seen in Mumbai and Delhi. The star power of Brigade Road and Commercial Street, two of the most renowned high-street locations, is waning. The only high street to hold its own in rental value is Vittal Mallya Road. On the rise are select areas of Jayanagar, Indiranagar and Koramangala.

In the July-September quarter, rental values on Brigade Road registered a decline of about 19% sequentially from the previous quarter. On a year-on-year basis, rental values on Brigade Road plunged by 26% to Rs 325 per sqft, says a report by real estate consultancy firm Cushman & Wakefield. Industry analysts say this is the largest fall ever reported. In the similar period, rental values on Commercial Street dipped by 8% to Rs 300 per sqft.

Despite the large fall, Brigade Road still tops in rental values, though now it has to share its numero uno position with Jayanagar 4th Block and 11th Main, and Vittal Mallya Road, both of which command rental values of Rs 325 per sqft. The shift can be seen from the fact that while Brigade Road's per-square-foot rental has fallen from Rs 440 in 2011 to Rs 325, that of Jayanagar 4th Block and 11th Main has risen from Rs 250 to Rs 325 in the same period.

Default Denotification: Bangalore Metropolitan Task Force books Suresh Kumar

BANGALORE: The Bangalore Metropolitan Task Force (BMTF) has booked cases against law minister S Suresh Kumar, his former cabinet colleague Krishnaiah Setty and former principal secretary to the CM VP Baligar for their alleged involvement in denotifying land reserved for housing for the poor.

The land was allocated by the Karnataka Slum Clearance Board (KSCB) nearly three decades ago.

The first information report filed by the BMTF on a complaint by Dinesh Kallahalli, a city resident, stated that nearly 4.2 acres of land was acquired by the Slum Board in Laggere in 1982 to build houses for the poor. The land belonged to Gopinath, the brother of Narahari, a prominent RSS leader, the complaint stated.

The complaint alleged that though the land was acquired nearly three decades ago, in 2009, the government decided to denotify the land in the name of the owner, Gopinath.

I guess, there is a HC hearing for the Regularization scheme in Nov'12 - does anyone have credible details of the same? When and whether this is the same as Akrama/Sakrama?

The first information report said they were allegedly involved in denotifying land reserved by the Karnataka Slum Clearance Board for building houses for the poor. "The accused were given different dates to appear before the investigating officer, deputy superintendent of police Pramod Rao. The dates are confidential as investigation is on " said a BMTF source. Default BDA has no balm for Arkavathy woes

BANGALORE: A group of Arkavathy Layout site allottees, most of them senior citizens, virtually ran into a wall on Friday when they attempted to meet the commissioner of the Bangalore Development Authority (BDA). They wanted to get a status report on their promised plots.
About 200 of the 8,000-odd persons, who were allotted plots in the ambitious layout off Bellary Road but are yet to gain possession of the same, visited the BDA office in Kumara Park to know the status of their cases.

"We went to meet the BDA commissioner. He was unavailable and we had to meet the secretary. They said they had no idea about anything. This is annoying," said Shiva Prakash, an allottee and key member of the Arkavathy Layout Allottees Association (ALAA).

Most of the allottees who had turned up were senior citizens in their 70s and 80s. Prakash said the BDA officials never give them any appointment.

The Arkavathy Layout project floated over 10 years ago ran into legal problems after landowners whose land was acquired moved court. The Supreme Court ordered enhanced compensation for affected landowners. Though the quantum of compensation was announced last year nothing has happened on the ground. Some allottees have got the plots registered but are yet to gain possession of their sites. In most instances, the allotment process has not even reached the registration stage.

With BDA unable to reply to their questions, the allottees ended up trading words with BDA deputy secretaries and secretaries, before leaving empty handed.

BDA commissioner T Sham Bhatt had earlier promised ALAA members that work on civic amenities will be taken up at the layout from January 15, 2013.
