Punjabis are emotionally attached to Punjabi language, so Pinglish(Punjabi+English) should be allowed too, Tamilians are emotionally attached to Tamil language so Tinglish(Tamil+English) too should be allowed.
We Indians drive to the Left in India but when we go to US, we have to drive on Right side since that's the rule there, we don't say please make an exception for us and let us drive on the Left since we are quite emotional with left-side driving. One must learn to respect the laws of the land and not expect laws to change on ones' own whims and fancies. No doubt, everyone does occassionaly use or two words in his native language once in while but carrying out constantly whole abusive and hostile statements in Hinglish or whatever is simply not done. I, for one, request everyone that please correspond in official language prescribed here if want to engage with me in any discussion otherwise I am going to Report that post for breach of rules to Admin.

One question Mr. Bullish, does that mean IREF is meant for English writing people only. Sad we are pretty much a British colony still who cannot come out of their shadows even after 60 years of independence.
IREF will lose 50000 members if only English is allowed on forums. Let me raise this issue with IREF again in another thread. We can go over pros and cons. I am not putting any resistance but putting my point here to allow language that is our national language and is understood by most of Indians. |

I believe you must be knowing that IREF is a website which is accessed by users around the world and not just India for Indian RE related queries. They have to cater to many NRIs around the world some of whom may have even been born abroad. Anyway, Hinglish is a pretty absurd idea in itself, better it remains pure Hindi or English. Since pure Hindi is nigh impossible here, I guess they can go along with English only. Wrong use of language is anyways an insult to language. |

One very important reason why English should remain the only language in use here is that those people who are asking for permission to write in Hinglish are indirectly acknowledging that they have a problem expressing themselves in English and that's why they should be given this relaxation.
Suppose even if they are granted this relaxation, it is very much likely that they have a problem in understanding English as well. The result, only they know what they make of a Post, and then give an absolutely unrelated reply taking the discussion towards an altogether different direction. It has happened many times here, making a mockery of whole process of having a discussion board to arrive at some sort of conclusion. At best, such people wreck any meaningful debate. |

Similarly at IREF the medium of discussions specified is English only. There may be some occasional relaxation within limits. If the use of Hinglish is allowed than IREF is going to suffer badly.I come across posts of some members using a mixture of Hindi and English and I am not able to comprehend what the member wants to convey. To maintain the sanctity of discussions,I think English should remain as the only medium of posting at IREF.

Agree that one should follow the rules religiously be it an institution/ workplace or a forum.
My question to IREF admin is why jokes in Hindi are allowed or why some people are given relaxation to write in Hindi and others are not? What is the quantitative scale (number of words/ sentences) to ban a person using language other than Hindi? I would suggest that keep the medium limited to either English or else allow relaxation to use at least national language. Quote:
