Residents of upscale condominium World Spa in Sector 30 have planned to hold a dharna outside developer Unitech’s office on Wednesday to protest alleged irregularities in building flats and lack of promised amenities. The Worlds Spa Apartments Owners Association said more than 200 residents of the gated community, including women, senior citizens and officials of multinational companies, would participate in the demonstration. “There are many answers which residents of World Spa want from the builder,” said association president SK Bahri.
“The dharna would be held at Signature Tower from 10am. Senior officials of multinational companies like Nestle, Oracle, Ranbaxy, Airtel, Reliance, Pepsico, Bacardi, and Genpact, government officials and ex-servicemen would take part in the protest,” Bahri said. New Delhi: Leading real estate firm Unitech Ltd has been held guilty of resorting to "unfair trade practice" by a consumer forum here and directed to pay a customer Rs 6.6 lakh for making "illegal demands" from him after he booked a flat with it and paid the booking amount.
Mutual Funds Check for top funds The District Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum, in its order, observed that the firm and its agent made "unjustified" demands from the customer and also threatened to forfeit his deposited money. "The action of the Unitech Ltd and its agent in raising the illegal demands from time to time and then refusing to refund the booking amount is clearly unjustified and amounts to unfair trade practice by them. "Accordingly we direct the firm and its agents jointly and severally to refund to the complainant the sum of Rs 5.5 lakhs along with a compensation of Rs 1,00,000 for physical and mental agony suffered and Rs 10,000 as the litigation cost," the forum said. The bench presided by Rakesh Kapoor passed the order on a plea by Rohini resident Amrit Lal Chawla who said he had booked a flat for Rs 5.5 lakh in a residential project, Unitech Verve at Greater Noida, launched by the firm. Chawla alleged the company sent letters arbitrarily increasing the rate of the flat from the initially agreed upon rate under the contract and when he cancelled the booking and asked for refund of his deposited amount from the company, it threatened to forfeit the same. The forum observed that Unitech Ltd "failed to show as to how they had raised demands at higher rate than what was agreed upon" as it chose not to contest the complaint despite a notice. By Iamdkjain Hi, I booked one 3 BHK apartment at Escape Unitech in Tower No 6,super Area 2050 sq.ft. The possession has been delayed by more than a year by Unitech, and there is still no concrete date for them to complete and handover. The payment terms were Time-linked irrespective of progress on site. I am very much aggrieved as I am suffering on account of loss of interest on deposits I have made and the builder is going to compensate me by rental value of only Rs 5 per sq ft per month which is grossly unjustified. The national consumer forum in many other cases has held that in case of such delays, the builders should compensate the buyer by way of interest.We have a strong case and in case some of you also feels cheated the same way, please contact me and we can jointly seek redressal to the issue with the builder or court. A deposit was taken from the residents at the time of the purchase for the houses for construction of the South Patio Club, with the promise that the management of the clubhouse would be handed over to the residents of Nirvana Country. The clubhouse was finally developed more than 4 years after the promised date. However, contrary to all promises Unitech refuses to allow the residents any say in the management of the club. Unitech has turned the society's clubhouse into an open club which it uses to makes money by renting the club premises to outsiders for private parties. Despite many representations from the Nirvana Country Residents Wellfare Association, Unitech refuses to change its stand. The fees of the clubhouse has been arbitrarily doubled by Unitech and the tenants have also been denied the access to the club despite they being provided NOC by the respective Nirvana Country house owners. Nirvana Country Resident's Wellfare Association is now contemplating legal action against Unitech for this breach of trust. Unitech seems to have really downgraded its Quality.
Unitech SPA RWA has terminated Unitech Maintenance agreement recently. All residents are complaining for poor and shoddy work.
