Hi,

I recently booked an apartment and now the builder is asking me the service tax of 3.39%.

I read on the net that not all components are included in the so called services e.g. "Car parking" is excluded from service-tax. Can somebody tell me what components of the breakup are included in this ? Are VAT, Registration charges, down payment included in this ?

I am little worried because the component breakup given at the beginning (in a rough sheet) is different from what is written in the "Sale Agreement". For example, VAT was present in the rough sheet but is missing from the Sale Agreement.

Many thanks in advance.

Regards,
~P

  • Well, I guess the service tax thing is totally based on Builder's soul ...means how much honest/corrupt he is...... in my case i was asked to pay 2.575% on everything means (BSP,Parking,PowerBackup, Club)+10.3% on PLC. No explanation was given ....and break up was given only on a rough sheet. Nowhere it is mentioned in BBA.

On insisting ..they said this is how it is sir ...whether u agree or don't. :)

Please share others as well how much they were "shaved" in the name of Sservice Tax.

    regards,

  • This the standard norm. It is applicable for the payments made after 1st July 2010.

  • Service & VAT Calculation

As per my research the VAT & Service Tax is calculated on Base Price+Car Park for the apartment.( Currently it's 2.5 % VAT & 2 % Service Tax )....
