  • Property claim grandson on a property which has been sold multiple times

We have bought a house and the site on which house is built has changed 3 hands before we bought it. Now the grandson of a previous land owner is asking for a claim. The grandfather here had agricultural land and they had converted that into sites and sold. Now the site in question has changed 3 hands and we are 4th owners for it. How can this grandson have a claim. Does he have a case?

I am not a Lawyer, but as far as i know, until the full history of the transactions and the compensation/claims distribution of the original owners is known, it would be difficult to comment. Also whether the land in question was ancestral property or bought by the Grandfather would also play a role here.

Better consult a Lawyer with all the documentation available.

The grandfather here has sold the site to one person along with his sons. Then the site is sold again twice. Here owner has built house and sold to us. We checked with lawyer before purchase, but he didn't tell anything like this can happen where grandson of first owner can claim.

As far as I know, if the land was sold with the consent of the Grandson ( he was a party to the sale deed ), he cannot claim anything now.

Hi Manoja, its a ancestral property. the land was sold in 2001 by grand father to a person, probably that time grandson may be minor or didn't exist. Then land is sold by current owner to another person in 2016 and we bought from new owner in 2019. Does the grandson here has a valid case to claim settlement from us ?

This is happening in many Bangalore layouts where grandsons or relatives claim for share from the residents who are 3rd or 4th owners of site or house built upon the site

Whether the Grandson's claim is valid or not won't be easy to ascertain, until the full history of the transactions and the compensation/claims distribution of the original owners is known.

      My advise, consult a Lawyer.
