  • URGENT - Clarification on CMDA restriction for allotment of all flats on the same floor to a single party

    Hi,

Kindly inform if there is any CMDA (Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority) regulation which prohibits a person from acquiring all flats (2 in this case) on the same floor (other than the top most floor) in a building comprising of 6 flats (3 floors * 2 flats each).

We have been orally informed that since the Mugalivakkam incident, all flats on a floor are not allotted to the same person citing safety reasons in case of an emergency, as a precautionary measure so that the passage is not blocked by the owner.

Please inform if this is a general practice / is there a defined regulation in this regard. An immediate response would be very helpful.

    Thank you.
