Does anybody have a way to gauge how an Apartment depreciates
over time so as can be used on calculation of investments. If there
is a general guide for chennai.

like say new - 5 year old -- 10 year old.... just want to see after what
point , selling the apartment becomes worthless.

  • In my view, the general concept of separating land and flat is totally notional. Even after 50 years, the apartment is not going to be razed to the ground and property divided among owners. It makes sense to view it as a Flat and compare and calculate its PHYSICAL worth and FACILITIES vis-a-vis a new one in the SAME area.
