          IIIT to be set up in Sonepat soon

          ROHTAK: The Haryana government has initiated the process of setting up the Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) in Sonepat at a cost Rs 128 crore. A spokesperson for the Haryana technical education department on Monday said that the department had invited expression of interest from IT and non-IT companies, to be associated as industry partners for setting up the institute. The IIIT will be established under a scheme of the union ministry of human resource development on a not-for-profit public private partnership basis.

            Haryana will be an international education hub soon

            New Delhi: The dream of Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda to make Haryana as an international education hub is , Haryana Chief Minister on Sunday inaugurated 10 educational institutions in the prestigious Rajiv Gandhi Education City Kundli, Sonipat.

            These include Bharti Vidyapeeth University, Pune, Ashoka University, Skyline Business School of Asian Education Society, Foundation for Organisation Research and Education (FORE), Manav Rachna International University, NC College of Engineering and Research, Hindu School of Architecture, RIMT Technical Campus, Shri Balwant Rai Institute of Technology and Research and SRM University.

            These institutes are being set up on 167.74 acres of land.

            A sum of Rs 15,000 crore would be invested on the overall development of this education city which would provide quality education to about 1.5 lakh students. It would create employment opportunities directly and indirectly for about 50,000 people.

            The project will have a capacity for 36,000-40,000 students and these projects will ensure quality education. 25 percent seats will be reserved for the students from Haryana, in which 5,000 students will get free education, 10,000 will get 50 percent concession whereas remaining 10,000 to get 25 percent fee concession.

              Industrial Model Townships (IMTs) at Kharkhoda

              The Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (HSIIDC) spent Rs.1045.25 crore on the development of industrial infrastructure in the State in 2008, Rs. 104 crore more than the previous year, an official spokesman said here on Sunday.
              He added that encouraged by the steady uptrend in the infrastructure sector and enthused by the response, the Corporation had drawn up an ambitious plan for setting up new industrial estates and infrastructure projects for which a land bank of about 17,000 acres was being created. The investment outlay for these projects which include expressways, model industrial townships, clusters and dedicated theme parks, has been estimated at a whopping Rs.12,000 crore.
              These projects include the KMP Expressway, the Industrial Model Townships (IMTs) at Rohtak, Faridabad, Kharkhoda (Sonepat) and Jagadhari, and expansion of the IMTs in Manesar, Bawal, Barhi, Rai, Karnal and Saha industrial estates.
              The HSIIDC was developing dedicated theme parks including food parks at Rai and Saha, apparel park at Barhi, footwear park at Bahadurgarh, textile cluster at Panipat, auto parts cluster at Gurgaon, and technology parks under the campus development norms at Panchkula, Rai and Manesar.
              He added that land for the first phase of the Rohtak IMT project, measuring about 878 acres, had already been acquired and development works had already been undertaken by L & T. The IMT at Rohtak would have the cutting edge of linkages with the expressway, the special economic zone in Jhajjar District, and the upcoming industrial centres like Kharkhoda.

                We are planning to develop SEZ at Kharkhoda, in the district of Sonepat, Haryana. The land for the project is in the vicinity of the Bawana industrial area and IMT and alongside the KMP expressway.

                  In next years, Kundli would see emergence as another neighbouring satellite towns to Delhi just like Gurgaon/ Noida are now today.

                  Next 5 years will definitely see opening of KMP expressway, opening of some univerisities in Rajiv Gandhi education city, orbital rail corridor from Kundli to Manesar/ Palwal and may see RRTS corridor from Kundli to Delhi.

                    GAIL to invest Rs 261 cr in Sonipat; hopes to double its consumer base

                    SONIPAT: GAIL Gas, a wholly owned subsidiary of Gail (India), is strengthening city gas distribution (CGD) infrastructure in Sonipat for its piped natural gas. It will be spending Rs 261 crore in this effort.

                    "Initial investment plan under Phase-I is for 5 years. Once it is completed, further investment plans shall be drawn up," said SP Sharma, general manager (CGM), Gail Gas.

                    In June 2009, Gail Gas was authorised by the Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (Piped natural gasRB) for setting up CGD infrastructure in four cities, including Sonipat. The company has already laid 45 kilometers of pipeline in city area.

                    WIDENING CONSUMER BASE

                    Gail Gas is already supplying gas to Sector 12, 13, 14, 15, Sikka Colony, Janta Colony, Model town and Rathdhana Village since first year of its induction in 2009. This had made Rathdhana the first village in India to get a Piped natural gas supply. "We are now planning to expand the CGD infrastructure to all the areas of the city."

                    "In Sonipat, we have received an overwhelming response from the public. We have more than 4,850 households registered with us for Piped natural gas connections and we are aiming to take that number to 9,000 households soon," said Sharma. Gail has envisaged a demand of 1.1 mmscmd from Sonipat in the next 25 years.

                    VALUE FOR MONEY

                    The company is expecting most of the demand for Piped natural gas to come from domestic and commercial consumer sector. Limitation on subsidised LPG cylinders is expected to be a boon for its Piped natural gas business. Consumers might come forward to get a Piped natural gas connection as its rates would be economical compared to LPG cylinders.

                    "The running cost of Piped natural gas would be about 10 percent less than the cost of LPG," informed Sharma. Piped natural gas is safer and more eco-friendly fuel for the user. The retail selling price of slab 1 (usage up to 30 square cubic meter in 60 days) is Rs 22.50 per scm and of slab 2 (up to 30scm in 60 days on different quantity only) is Rs 26.10 per scm, according to the company.

                    The household use of natural gas has picked up also because of multiple uses of natural gas in a household. The gas can be used for cooking, water heating, air conditioning, refrigeration, power generation and fuelling the vehicle. In industrial and transport sector, however, the company expects generating demand to be an uphill task because of the high cost of the gas available for these sectors.

                    NEW MARKETING MANTRA

                    To reach out to a wider number of consumers, Gail India has also hired the services of future fuels, a direct marketing agency in Sonipat to spread awareness about Piped natural gas in the city. "The agency is involved in introducing the new source of energy to households through various modes of communication and explaining to them the benefits of Piped natural gas over LPG," said, Shilpi Tandon, corporate communication, Gail Gas.

                    Registration for domestic consumers has started in October 2010. The related forms are available on the company's website and also with the direct marketing agents. "A refundable security deposit of Rs 5,000 is taken for setting up the Piped natural gas connection to a household along with Rs 300 as registration fee," said, Chandan, who handles local customer satisfaction in Future Fuels, Sonipat. "Our team members meet at least 50-60 customers daily individually or over phone and the new consumers are quite excited about the various features and uses of Piped natural gas," said Chandan.
