A well planned infrastructure, green cover and spacious housing make Vikaspuri a much sought-after colony, and you thought West Delhi did not have much to offer...

Vikaspuri, in terms of spacious colonies, accessibility to the centre, swanky malls and a green cover, has it all. Situated on the main Najafgarh Road, Vikaspuri's proximity to the district centre makes it a much sought after address. Besides, it also enjoys accessibility to the Barakhamba-Dwarka metro line. As one of West Delhi's posh colonies, it has all the facilities and luxuries that one could wish for: a fact confirmed by the high real estate prices. Vikaspuri offers a variety of houses. There are Low Income Group (LIG), Middle Income Group (MIG) and High Income Group (HIG) flats by the Delhi Development Authority (DDA). Their rates vary according to the area and the group into which they fall.

- LIG flats of about 700 square feet cost Rs. 22-27 lakh.
- MIG houses of 1000 square feet cost Rs. 30 lakh.
- HIG flats of an area of about 1400-1600 square feet cost Rs. 40 to 50 lakh.
- Janta flats of about 400 square feet can be purchased at Rs. 15-16 lakh.

Besides DDA flats, builder houses and independent homes are also available. Their cost varies from Rs 25 to 85 lakhs. A floor area of 80 square yards costs Rs. 25 lakh, one of 125 square yards costs Rs. 50-60 lakh and one as big as 200 square yards costs Rs. 80-85 lakh.
Independent houses, commonly known as kothis, with an area of 80 square yards could leave you poorer by Rs. 80 lakh.

The colony's most favourite hangout is the shopping complex. The main attraction here is the PVR multiplex. After treating yourself to a movie, you can shop and eat to your heart's content. A number of temples also dot the area. Mookambikai, a South Indian Temple in 'C' block is a cultural centre in its own right. Besides recreational centres, there are many schools in the area such as the Oxford School, Kamal Public School and DAV.

There is also a vocational college called Baba Saheb Ambedkar Polytechnic in the vicinity A number of private nursing homes and hospitals like U K Nursing Home and Shankar Hospital take care of the medical needs of the residents. Spacious and well maintained roads and a green cover - all lend the colony an aesthetic touch.
