The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) has lodged an FIR against a woman for impersonating an allottee to gain possession of a DDA SFS flat in Mount Kailash area.

The woman,a resident of Gurgaon, even got the property converted into a freehold and sold it,laughing all the way to the bank.

The imposter has been identified as a resident of Chandigarh who is currenly living at Ambience Island in Gurgaon. The police said she impersonated Amrit Kaur, the real allottee of the flat,to gain possession of a flat in Mount Kailash area in East of Kailash.

This fourth floor flat at Mount Kailash Tower III is allotted in the name of one Kaur, whom this woman impersonated, said a police officer.

After allotment of the flat, the woman approached the DDA and got the flat converted into freehold and later sold it.

All documents she presented were in the name of Amrit Kaur and DDA did not bother to verify, a police officer said.

Officials said the imposter had submitted forged documents to seek possession of the flat.DDAs deputy director of land and building (housing) at Vikas Sadan filed the complaint against the woman on Monday.

Police sources said they are yet to find out whether this is an individual case or similar allotments have taken place earlier as well.

Meanwhile, the real allottee,Amrit Kaur, remains clueless as she had no idea her flat had been allotted to someone else.Officials said the DDA had allotted flats in Mount Kailash long ago.

A source said,We are yet to find out how the woman knew that a flat was to be allotted to Kaur.It is possible that this is an organized racket but it will take time to investigate. DDA spokesperson Neemo Dhar told TOI,I am not aware of the details of this case, but it is rare for the DDA to register a police case.
