- MCD sanctions building plan online
Adding another service to its e-governance system, the MCD on Monday sanctioned online its first building plan.
According to Municipal Commissioner KS Mehra, this latest development will mean transparent, quick services at the people’s door-step.
The property that got its plan sanctioned is from Vasant Kunj.
With the sanctioning of the plan, the MCD has become the first local body in India to introduce the system of sanctioning building plans applied online. The scheme of sanctioning building plans through online system was launched on November 1. “At present, only MCD headquarters receives and sanctions plans, but soon the facility would be extended to its zonal offices to make the procedure hassle-free,“ Mehra said.
The scheme so far is restricted to fresh proposals in respect to properties in residential plotted areas. Giving details of the project, Additional Commissioner (Engineering), Manish Gupta said a unique has been developed which automat ically scrutinises the drawings a per Building Bye-Laws, 1983 an Master Plan 2021. He added tha it has been proposed that th extension of the facility to tw zonal offices -South Zone an Rohini Zone-be completed b December 1. - South Zone first to OK building plan online

The South Zone office of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) became the first zone to sanction building plans online. A building plan for a property in Safdarjung Development Area (SDA) was sanctioned on the same day itself on which an application was received.
The application was sanctioned through uniquely devised , which, without any manual endeavours or intervention by the staff, automatically displays the shortcomings in the drawings as per Building Bye-Laws 1983, Master Plan of Delhi 2021. “The day we received the application, we cleared it on the same day. This facility will be extended to other zones soon,“ said a senior official of the MCD.
The scheme of sanctioning building plans through online system was launched on November 1. According to the MCD officials, the facility would be further extended to other zonal offices to make the procedure hassle. This would eliminate manual endeavours for examining of the building plans as well as charges.
The scheme, so far, is restricted to fresh proposals in respect of properties in residential areas. The plots measuring 400 square yards and above are sanctioned at the MCD headquarter and any plan below it are sanctioned at the zonal offices.
MCD claims that the online project will do away with the endless queues and the weighty files at its offices. Once the building plan has been approved, the architect concerned will get a confirmation through email.
The official site of the civic agency MCD Online has a list of architects empanelled online by the MCD.
The architects have also been imparted training and guidance on how to get the building plans sanctioned through this system.
If applications are not cleared within a week’s time, the officer concerned will be answerable.

- Online sanctioning of industrial properties begins
NEW DELHI: The process of online sanctioning of building plans of industrial plots by Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), which was earlier limited to residential properties, was kick started here today.
Briefing about the scheme, Municipal Commissioner K S Mehra said it is for industrial plots forming part of approved layout plan with fresh construction.
Earlier, the MCD had launched the scheme of sanctioning of building plans for residential properties in November last year.
Mehra said that till date 650 building plans for residential plots have been sanctioned online through the scheme. He said the scheme is being accepted well by property owners and architects.
Giving details of the software being used, Manish Gupta, Additional Commissioner (Engineering) said "the software has been developed in such a manner that it automatically scrutinises the submitted building plans with regard to the building bye-laws and Master Plan norms".
Within one hour, he said, it automatically rebuts to the applicant or architect with errors and deviations in the submitted building plans.
He added that in this system all procedures are hassle- free, without any manual intervention for examination of the building plans as well as charges.
The official website of MCD has a list of architects empanelled online for facilitating owners preparing building plans as per bye-laws. They can also check the status of their application on MCD's website.
The architects have also been imparted training and guidance regarding sanctioning of building plans online. The facility to deposit the applicable charges online through credit or debit cards has also been extended.
