no news yet, I am also waiting for the same. It was told that refunds will be done in 5 days instead of 7-8 days communicated earlier.

But, both timelines are missed and no updates yet on this.

Over 3,000 allottees give up 1BHK DDA Narela flats

      Sidharatha Roy | TNN | Updated: Aug 7, 2019, 5:37 IST

DDA has tried and failed several times to sell its flats in Narela

NEW DELHI: Delhi Development Authority (DDA) is finding it difficult to find takers for its flats in Narela, even after offering them multiple times.

In about a fortnight since DDA held the draw of lots for housing scheme 2019, more than 35% of the flats, all of which are one-bedroom ones, have been surrendered by the allottees.

In the draw of lots for the housing scheme held on July 23, total 8,438 flats were allotted but till August 6, 3,017 applicants have surrendered their flats. This is not the first housing scheme in which flats allotted in north Delhi's Narela have been surrendered by the allottees. Under the 2017 housing scheme, 4,711 allottees had surrendered the flats, mostly in Narela, within a fortnight of the draw of lots.

The authority's latest housing scheme had received a very lukewarm response to begin with. While there were nearly 18,000 flats on offer under the scheme, in the draw of lots only 8,438 flats were allotted.

The housing scheme, with 17,922 flats on offer, was launched on March 25 and remained open till June 10. The authority received 45,012 applications, but majority of these were for the 1,286 three-bedroom, two-bedroom and one-bedroom flats in Vasant Kunj. Even as majority of the flats were in Narela, only 5,000 applications were received for these, including two-bedroom ones. While 7,700 flats were offered for economically weaker sections, only 1,500 applications had come for these flats.

"There are not many takers for flats in Narela due to its location. It is far away from the heart of the city and also there is an acute shortage of public transport," a DDA official said.

"In earlier housing schemes, many allottees had complained about the small size of flats. That is why we didn't include any flats from the old inventory in the scheme. The new flats are spacious but still the response was not good," he said.

Poor location, poor quality, no infrasturctor and Rates are super high... these are useless flats, never going to get buyers. Govt. will fall on the face again and again until they slash the prices by half atleast.

DDA to refund unsuccessful candidates' money in a week

Even in the final draw of lots, out of 10,294, only 8,438 flats were allotted in various categories from 45,012 applicants. PTI | August 08, 2019, 14:00 IST

NEW DELHI: The DDA on Wednesday said it has planned to refund the registration amount in a week's time to candidates who had unsuccessfully applied to the Housing Scheme, 2019. The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) had on July 23 held the draw of lots for new online scheme for which only 10,294 flats were put on offer, out of the original kitty of nearly 18,000 units.

Even in the final draw of lots, out of 10,294, only 8,438 flats were allotted in various categories from 45,012 applicants.

"The applicants who were not successful in getting flats under the DDA Housing Scheme, 2019 will not have to wait long for the refund of the registration amount as it will be refunding the amount within a week positively," the DDA said in a statement.

Necessary instructions have already been issued to the designated banks to ensure refund of registration amount to the unsuccessful applicants within a week, it said in the statement.

Besides, the successful applicants can also exercise the option of surrendering allotment or getting refund of the registration amount without any deduction, up to 15 days from the date of issue of demand-cum-allotment letter, issued on the DDA website, it said.

The DDA Housing Scheme, 2019 was launched on March 25, offering flats across four categories.

The deadline for application was extended by a month till June 10, after getting a low response. The deadline for the same was May 10 earlier.

The flats were on offer in four categories - HIG, MIG, LIG and EWS. Of the 45,012 final applicants, 36,409 belonged to general category, 5,021 Scheduled Castes and 2,025 Scheduled Tribes and 97 war widows, among others.

Delhi Development Authority cuts rate for EWS flats in Narela

Of the 17,922 apartments that DDA had offered in its Housing Scheme 2019, 7,700 flats, situated in Narela, were earmarked for the EWS. Sidharatha Roy | TNN | August 21, 2019, 18:00 IST

NEW DELHI: Delhi Development Authority has slashed the price of its flats meant for the economically weaker sections (EWS) by 40% and plans to launch a new scheme for them from August 30.

Of the 17,922 apartments that DDA had offered in its Housing Scheme 2019, 7,700 flats, situated in Narela, were earmarked for the EWS. The land-owning agency, however, received only 1,500 applications for them and as a result, took such flats out of the scheme.

The EWS units, which were previously priced around Rs 17 lakh, are now being offered at a concessional rate of Rs 12 lakh.

As part of the new scheme, DDA is offering 6,536 flats in Narela’s Pocket 1A, 1B and 1C priced between Rs 10.8 lakh and Rs 12.2 lakh. The plinth area of such units is between 35.4 square metres and 37.3 square metres. The authority also plans to offer 960 flats, with a plinth area of 29.7 square metres, located at G7/G8 of Sector-V, Narela, at Rs 9.5 lakh.

The online application submission for the new scheme will start from August 30. With few takers for its flats in Narela, the land authority is coming up with different strategies to sell them. One housing scheme after another, DDA is finding it difficult to sell the flats in Narela. With its recent housing scheme receiving a lukewarm response, DDA ended up allotting only 8,438 flats out of 17,922 flats initially offered.

Of them, more than 3,000 units have already been surrendered by allottees and all such flats are in Narela.

While DDA is now offering EWS flats at a huge concession and expects more buyers to come forward, it is thinking of different strategies to sell its one-bedroom and two-bedroom flats in Narela, which too have not found many buyers.

For the two-bedroom flats in Narela, Delhi Police has come to DDA’s rescue. “We have offered the two-bedroom flats in Narela to Delhi Police and they have agreed to take them,” DDA vice-chairman Tarun Kapoor told TOI.

The only problem for the agency now are the nearly 2,000 one-bedroom flats in Narela, for which there seem to be no takers, including bulk buyers such as PSUs. Kapoor said that DDA is brainstorming to come up with a strategy to sell the one-bedroom flats in Narela.
