  • Balcony extension in South Delhi

I live on the 1st floor of a Ground plus 3 floor building in South Delhi. There is no stilt parking in the building. Can I extend the balcony in both directions (a little towards the side and substantially towards the front (gate)). My building was constructed in 2009. Most of the newer buldings have balcony's till almost over the front gate. I actually wanted to increase my balcony substaintially and then partly increase the size of the rooms next to the balcony.

I will need to put new pillars in place. Can I legally do this?

The Building would have been passed as per the existing rules at the time the Building was constructed. Extending the balcony and then increasing the size of the rooms would be illegal and against the rules.

For better clarity, contact an local Architect and seek his guidance or contact the concerned Govt. Department.
