Polytechnics in the capital would be upgraded so as to have more engineering and medical colleges in the capital, Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit said on Thursday.

Announcing this in the concluding session of the Orientation Workshop of Takniki Shiksha Sansthan Kalyan Samitis (TSSKS), Dikshit also asked the industry to make use of the skill which is being developed in the technological institutions of Delhi.

"Quality upgradation is essential for meeting modern requirements. Delhi is having a large number of technical education institutions and national and international level certification process is a beginning which would improve quality of work and quality of processes," she said.

She said Delhi should be presented as a showpiece in this regard and a role model state for others to follow.

Dikshit said her government was committed to developing Delhi as a technically savvy city and a hub of best-skilled persons.

TSSKS's are institutions that will facilitate various decision-making and execution of the minor work at institute level with funds allocated in the capital head of the Budget.
