    Aug 17, 2012, 08.00AM IST

These news seems quite premature. As per my understanding, even if all the UP agencies & UP Cabinet approve the proposal, MOU can be signed only after the approval of the Central Government (Ministry of Urban Development). So hope that every this is on track and the Metro reaches the final destination.

tHESE are nothing but delaying/time pass tactics. Metro will be constructed by DMRC. Role of GDA is just to provide fund, land, electricity etc.socio economic survey , if required, can be done at anytime. Be prepare. May be after the survey another DPR of Metro from D.G. to Old Bus Adda may be proposed by cancelling the old DPRs.

    MoU for Metro on anvil

Soon the industrial areas such as Sahibabad,Rajendra Nagar,Kavi Nagar,Meerut Road and Bulandshahar Road Industrial Area,South of GT Road Industrial Area and upcoming industrial areas along NH-58,would have the Metro rail connectivity, says Munna Mishra

Metro rail connectivity is going to be a key driver of business activity and a boon for industrial development in Ghaziabad.Despite the city strategically located, sharing its borders with the national capital, commuting to the industrial areas has been identified as a major roadblock in the way of the industrial growth.
The state government has been showing willingness to bat for the industrial growth to generate employment, and Ghaziabad is now a priority area.
Soon the industrial areas such as Sahibabad,Rajendra Nagar,Kavi Nagar,Meerut Road and Bulandshahar Road Industrial Area,South of GT Road Industrial areas and upcoming industrial areas along NH-58,would have the Metro rail connectivity.
Also, the Metro issue will reach the state cabinet for final clearance, which is a prerequisite for signing the MoU,said a senior official of GDA.
The GDA VC Santosh Yadav said: "The financial module for the Metro connectivity between Dilshad Garden and New Bus Terminus in Ghaziabad was being worked as per the government guidelines and now the proposal was circulated to all concern ministries before a cabinet note for discussion was tabled."
Yadav added,"The project has crossed all the hurdles,as each ministry has approved the project and soon the proposal is expected to be cleared by the state cabinet."
Yadav further said: "The government had a plan to carve out new industrial areas in Ghaziabad as avenues for new industries in all previous sites being developed are exhausted."The state government has plans to encourage new entrepreneurs who have limited means and Ghaziabad has been improving on the infrastructure front,so the city is emerging as a first choice for small scale industries and IT industries. This development would be along NH-58 and the Metro would directly connect NH-58 near the New Bus Terminal. The fast mode of connectivity between Delhi and Ghaziabad now tops the government's priority.
The GDA Board had cleared the second phase Metro almost a year back, paving the way for DPR and other decisions.
Meanwhile,Noida Authority too has cleared the Metro project between City Centre and Sector 62,which will be extended up to Indirapuram and open another route to Ghaziabad. This route would be further extended up to either Ghaziabad Old Railway Station via Pratap Vihar, that will cater to the needs of industries along the G.T.Road and Bulandshahar Road Industrial Areas.
The City Centre is already connected to Connaught Place, whereas people can also go to the same destination via Dilshad Garden. The property growth along the Metro corridor is expected to rise.
The GDA VC,Santosh Yadav said: "Once the cabinet approved the project, the GDA would sign the MoU with the DMRC.The GDA has been already in the process of drafting the MoU,which will be slightly different from the previous one;where there was no Central government assistance and the GDA was the sole funding agency."Besides the GDA,UP Awas Vikas Parishad,UPSIDC and Ghaziabad Nagar Nigam would be also participating, thus some modification in previous MoU signed between the GDA and the DMRC for the Metro is required.
"We also plan to take the advertisement rights with us,so that we can generate some revenue,"Yadav said.Talking about the timing of MoU,Yadav said: "We hope for next month."
The Metro project between Dilshad Garden and New Bus Terminus will cost Rs.1,591 crore.Yadav added that the new financial arrangement which has been cleared by the government pegged the GDA's share at Rs.491 crore,GNN's at Rs.165 crore,Awas Vikas at Rs.265 crore and UPSIDC's at Rs.65 crore.
These agencies will contribute these funds from infrastructure development funds being shared among these agencies, from the stamp and registry revenue accrued every year.As per the plan, there will be six stations between Dilshad Garden and New Bus Terminus and process is on to design two stations, namely Mohan Nagar and Bus Terminus,as interchange stations to facilitate the commuters.
The first phase of the Metro from Mohan Nagar to Vaishali has witnessed amazing public response as more than 40,000 passengers now commute from Vaishali on a daily basis and once the second phase gets implemented,it will benefit another 1.85 lakh passengers.
