Dilshad Garden-Ghaziabad Metro work to begin soon

Purusharth Aradhak, TNN Feb 2, 2014, 02.17AM IST

GHAZIABAD: The Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) has announced that work on the proposed 9.71-km Metro extension from Dilshad Garden to New bus-stand in Ghaziabad is expected to begin soon. The detailed project report was approved in a DMRC board meeting last week. The authority will hold talks with the DMRC soon to decide the future course of action. However, in the same meeting, the proposed expansion of Noida City Centre link to Sector 62 was rejected.

"DMRC has agreed to expand the Metro line to Ghaziabad. We will hold the meeting with officials to decide further course of action since our intention is to deliver the project under the stipulated time," GDA chairman Santosh Yadav said. "The detailed project report on a new alignment from Dilshad Garden to New Bus Stand, along GT Road in Ghaziabad, had been submitted. Work on the corridor is expected to start soon," he added.

The 9.71km corridor will start from Dilshad Garden and end at the New Bus Stand near Mahamaya Sports Stadium. "The alignment, which was earlier to terminate at Mohan Nagar, has been extended to cater to a larger section," Yadav said.
The line beyond New Bus Stand in the next stage, up to Raj Nagar on Hapur Road, will have seven stations — Shahid Nagar, Raj Bagh, Rajendra Nagar, Shyam Park, Mohan Nagar, Arthala and New Bus Stand.

Meanwhile, in a setback to Noida Metro line extension, the DMRC blocked the proposed link from Noida City Center to Sector 62. "The proposal was moved during the board meeting but could not take off," said Noida Authority chairman Rama Raman.

Dilshad Garden-Ghaziabad Metro extension gets go ahead

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has approved the proposed 9.71-km Metro extension from Dilshad Garden to New bus-stand in Ghaziabad, sources said.

The line, which will cater to more than 87,000 commuters over an elevated section on GT road, will provide improved connectivity to Delhi for the residents of Shalimar Garden, Lajpat Nagar, Rajendra Nagar, Raj Nagar Extension and Mohan Nagar.
"The matter was discussed at length in the board meeting on Friday and the DMRC has given in-principle nod to the proposed extension of the metro line to New Bus Stand in Ghaziabad," a senior DMRC official said.

However, the official spokesperson of the DMRC said the move can be confirmed once the minutes of the board meeting are released.
The cost of the project is estimated to be around Rs. 1,770 crore, of which the major share — Rs. 1,116 crore — will be borne by the UP government.
Ghaziabad Development Authority officials confirmed the move.
"We received reliable communications from Delhi and the DMRC officials about the approval by the chief minister and also by the DMRC board. The matter was pending for several years and things have now begun to take shape. The metro will soon be a reality in Ghaziabad too," said Santosh Kumar Yadav, GDA vice-chairman.

  • Saviour Park Project

    Dear Friends,

I would request all property owners of savior park to get united and take the matter with management regarding allotment and completion, there has been a lot of delay, my friends have property there and they are paying EMI/Rent and are under serious financial pressure.

It seems the work at the project is extremely slow and we will have to take this up with Builders/GDA/RBI/ press to push this and get the possession of properties at the earliest as promised.

Please look into all options and expedite this. PASS THIS MESSAGE TO ALL ...

Act fast otherwise we will be taken for ride...

    Thanks
