F1 Racing Track - Greater Noida - UPDATES

India will host its first Formula 1 Grand Prix on October 30, 2011. The announcement came following an extraordinary meeting of the World Motor Sport Council in Paris on Wednesday. The addition of an Indian GP to the F1 calendar will make 2011 a 20-race season, the longest in the history of the sport.

According to FIA deadlines, the track needs to be completed by July 30 and it will get a go-ahead subject to FIA homologation.

The 5.14-km track, located on the outskirts of Greater Noida (35km from Delhi) is being built by Noida-based Jaypee Sports International (JPSI) and is designed by German racetrack designer Hermann Tilke, who has designed F1 circuits in Malaysia, Bahrain, China, Turkey, UAE and South Korea.

  • Formula One: India Grand Prix Organiser Quits

The chief organiser of the Indian Grand Prix has resigned, the promoters said on Monday, barely nine months before the country is to host its inaugural Formula One race.
Mark Hughes, a former No 2 at the Bahrain circuit, in charge of building the Indian facility for the past 12 months, quit last month "due to personal reasons", the promoters said.

"Mark Hughes is no longer working with us, he left due to his own personal reasons," Sameer Kumar, chief spokesman for the promoters, the Jaypee group, said.

Kumar did not elaborate on Hughes's sudden departure, but said operations at the circuit were now being handled by Azhar Ghazali, a former race organiser in Sepang, Malaysia.

"Mr Ghazali is a very capable man and he's more than making up for Mr Hughes's absence," said Kumar.

India is due to hold the race on October 30 at an under-construction $350 million 5.14-kilometre circuit designed by renowned German architect Herman Tilke in Greater Noida on the outskirts of New Delhi.

  • Read a report on the issue a while back in 'Times Crest' ( not Times property thankfully :p ). Jaypee seems on track with F1 circuit and it promises to be one of the most exciting tracks once done as they have worked a lot on gradient changes and bends.

What do you feel Mr. Bajaj , will this F1 track boost the profile of brand Noida & Greater Noida particularly Expressway properties ?

Suavedude (from where do you guys get such cool names.....just amazing),

It will put G.noida on world map for sure but don't expect property prices to zoom like F1 cars ....:-)))

Greater noida will get lot of visibility n publicity which will help the region to come on it's own in the next decade or so.

consider this a begining for greater noida towards achieving it's true potential.

  • Thanks for appreciating the ID Mr. Bajaj, ID's or allias names such as these had to be created for yahoo chat rooms to chat with some dames. But, in the era of facebook , IDs have lost their usefullness now.

Let's hope the circuit is done is style, it will be a good boost to Brand Noida/Greater Noida :-)

Almost 3 to 4 year delay in home construction everyone expecting.

Jaypee is looking good only in road and racing track

  • Jaypee has dedicated most of it's their resources to Yamuna Expressway & F1 track right now.

So, delays in residential projects are to be expected.

This is likely to be the case for a long wihle to come. Yamuna Expressway will be done in June. Then there is the Expressway across UP. tons and tons of commercial properties in in the expressway region. new colonies on Yamuna Expressway. It just never ends. Buy in CLP and hope that they pay the penalty when the time comes.

  • or not buy at all, invest in plots and buy when jaypee finally completed this township. I don't think township will appreciate more then a plot.

Fully agree. Plots will appreciate more as Noida grows. Jaypee with so much supply would not appreciate really fast. Plus with so many investors in Wish Town from Delhi, supply would always be available.

You need to have ready cash for plots. and tremendous patience. If you have that. I can think of stocks (medium to long term) and commercial paper (short term) as good bets.

  • AFAIK, F1 track has to ready before final inspection i.e. at least 6 weeks before the race-day(28-30Oct). Hence JP has to finish the project by early September viz ~6 months from now.

I think they will do it.:D
