Delhi metro has incorporated major changes in its proposed extension of network under phase 3. The new lines will extensively cover Ring Road, one of the most congested and busy areas in the national capital.
Metro is also likely to spread its network to neighbouring states of Uttar Pradesh and Haryana, making this phase the largest network expansion with nine corridors.
The plan also includes a new corridor between Rajouri Garden and Dhaula Kuan and also taking the proposed Kalindi Kunj-Malviya Nagar corridor via Jamia Nagar.
These changes were made as Delhi cabinet in October suggested the Metro to cover more areas. Earlier, Delhi Metro had planned to keep Rajouri Garden-Dhaula Kuan stretch in phase 4, said a source in the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC).
“The addition of corridors have been included in the detailed project report, which we are going to present by mid February for Centre's approval,“ said Kumar Keshav, director (projects), DMRC.
The new route map will include six corridors including Jahangirpuri to Badli, Central Secretariat to Red Fort, Ashok Park to Delhi Gate, Rajouri Garden to Dhaula Kuan, Anand Vihar to Yamuna Vihar and Noida to Malviya Nagar.
“In addition, we are expecting three more corridors to be included in phase 3. These are proposed extension of Line 6 from Badarpur up to Faridabad, Line 1 from Dilshad Garden up to Ghaziabad in Haryana and Line 3 from Noida up to Greater Noida in Uttar Pradesh,“ said Keshav. These lines, however, will not be included in the DPR as these would be funded by the authorities of the respective states.
As per the proposed DPR, metro track will be laid on over 100 km, while the previous report had proposed to cover 69.57 km.
“We are expecting to get approvals for the project by April and start work by middle of this year. We would start civil construction of all lines together so that we can complete the project by middle of 2016,“ said Keshav.

  • Welcome back Mr. Bajaj, sounds like great news for Noida & Greater Noida region. Let's hope UP government funds metro expansion now.

And, it was high time you came as few folks are engaged in a malicious campaign against Noida/Greater Noida region of late.

    Suavedude,

iss news main dum hai --- it looks promising as well - eariler i had my doubts about metro work going private for noida/g.noida region - but this makes sense - infact perfect sense.

If metro ever come to greater noida - then this is the one.

    Bajaj ji,
A very warm welcome. We really missed you a lot as you make the forum very friendly (and not un-friendly!!). Though we would ask you many queries on your India trip (slowly-slowly) and the 4 transactions (if sharable), but what are those ' major turnaround' indicators

  • Thanks Vicky,

Mayawati - is the person credit should go for this turnaround indicators.

To me NOIDA always remained behind from gurgaon bcoz land in this area is controlled by Noida authority ( unlike haryana where you can buy land from farmers and convert it for any use) and they have been very stingy in terms of releasing land to big players for office/commercial/residential development.

BUT look now - what is happening - precious land is coming for auction probably every second week ( just today two 60 hector commercial plots in city centre is put up for sale - the most prized land in noida)- big builders are developing noida like never before.

metro coming from DMRC is again a shot in the arm.

There are many - let me get over my jet lag - will write more.

If i was single .....n mayawati jee thodi susheel aur sunder hootee......to main mr. mayawati bannne ko tyaar ho jaata ......after seeing so much developments.

gooosh ....... i hate my sense of humor

    :-)))

These commercial plots at City Centre are no ordinary plots- could count as one of the most expensive real estate deal of the year. With so much investment, more turnover/GDP, more employment and certainly more need for residential. It's a spin-off which is difficult to understand for most.

Yeah right may be but I like to keep it simple -
Too complicated stuff which are hard to understand is not my cup of tea.

I look at basic demand and supply and 70 crores sq ft is too much to fill up
