There is some confusion between FNG Highway and Eastern Peripheral Expressway which as I know are one and same.

    This is the news dated 21.12.2010 in Indian Express;

Govt considers congestion tax for Delhi roads

New Delhi : With work on the Eastern and Western peripheral expressways about to be awarded after years of waiting, the Delhi government is considering introducing a congestion tax in the Capital. The tax will be levied on trucks and other heavy goods vehicles that would use a route through Delhi instead of taking the peripheral expressways and bypassing Delhi altogether.

Government officials say the work for the Eastern Peripheral Expressway (EPE) is likely to be awarded by March. “The congestion tax will be high at Rs 3,000 to Rs 4,000 ,”said a senior government official said, adding that this was one of the issues being looked at by the Delhi government Special Task Force (STF) on Transport to decongest the city.
The EPE or the Kundli-Ghaziabad-Palwal expressway is one of the two semicircular expressways that will form a third ring road around Delhi, along with the Western Peripheral Expressway (or KMP Expressway). The complete peripheral road will connect the following radial highways: NH-1, 2, 8, 10, 24, 58, 91, SH-57, Yamuna/Taj expressway, Ganga expressway and Hindon expressway among others. Last year, the Road Transport and Highways ministry ordered the cancellation of the bidding process for EPE as the project received only one bid from Reliance Infrastructure.
“We have found that only 40 per cent of the vehicles that come to Delhi are actually headed for the city — the rest use Delhi as a thoroughfare,”said an official.

To decongest the city further, the Special Task Force has also taken up parking-related projects across the city.

“We have taken up three pilot projects, which have been divided into three categories — residential, for which we have taken up GK-I; commercial, for which we have taken up Sarojini market and office complex, for which we have taken up the Munirka Capital Court complex. The idea is not to create new parking spaces as this is not feasible in these areas, but use the existing parking spaces and to set parking rates,” Chief Secretary Rakesh Mehta who heads the STF.

  • EPE and FNG are not same. EPE will not go through noida or even greater noida.

more details in this thread https://www.indianrealestateforum.com/forum/city-forums/ncr-real-estate/noida-real-estate/12545-fng-expresss-way-axed/page2?t=14875&page=2

  • correct, EPE covers Dadri and meets Yamuna Expway beyond Sports City (F1) and the intersection is where Ganga Expway starts from.

  • The Million Dollar remains the same " Whether FNG is still proposed or it is axed".. I was really looking forward to this when i chose a Gaur property in Sector 119...

Your views would be highly appreciated...

I have my village near dadri. Eastern expressway is supposed to pass very near to our khets(fields)... This news came some 3-4 years ago but still work has not even started... Lot of folks in my village used to say(still say) that the fortune of the area will change when this EPE passes near our village. Lets hope it starts soon.

I also believe that EPE and FNG are two different things.

  • My gut is that FNG will still start from NH 24 and intersect Noida-G.Noida Expway and end in UP; the haryana part may well have been scraped.

EPE- though the reason given for not awarding it to Rel. Infra earlier is that it was the sole bidder, I feel the real reason is collusion btw WPE developer, haryana govt. and Highways ministry(State Congress and Centre COngress). They don;t want a competing road as yet.
We will have to wait for it to be awarded.

  • FNG (Faridabad-Noida-Ghaziabad) is totally different to EPE.

No part of FNG will be at Greater Noida.

A Part of FNG (Noida Section) will be almost parallel to Hindon River.

  • Venky,

Couple of week ago, I have been discussing this very same topic at one other thread. Looks like nothing is sure yet as lot of people mentioned about tenders getting cleared from NA for FNG.
It could be possible that Noida/G.Noida/Ghaziabad part remains, but Haryana's portion get axed.
It would be good to get this information from other sources as well.
