About 4,500 farmers of 11 villages in Noida have refused to accept an agreement inked between the authority and Kisan Sansh Samiti, an umbrella body of farmers, on Saturday.

These villages have decided to move court, seeking their land back.
Houses and various other establishments were constructed on the land acquired from these farmers years ago.

Only 162 hectares of land — carved out of Morna, Nithari and Chhalera villages and today known as City Centre plot in sectors 32 and 25A — is vacant.

The authority sold this plot to a private builder for Rs 7,500 crore in March.

Farmers have demanded this land back too.

These are the farmers whose land was acquired before 1997. The authority started making allotment of developed land plots, measuring 5% of the total land acquired, after 1997.

Before 1997, the authority provided 17.5% reservation to farmers in housing plot schemes.

“Those whose land was acquired before 1997 also sought plots measuring 5% of their land acquired. When the authority did not promise this in the July 30 agreement, they’re upping the ante,” said a senior official.
On Saturday, farmers under the banner of Kisan Sansh Samiti in Noida said they had suspended their agitation for three months and, during this period, they would not stall any real estate projects in the city.

But the trouble is not yet over. “Our land was acquired at Rs 9 per sqm. We were not given any plots under the 17.5% quota,” said Ved Pal, a farmer. “We should also get the 5% developed land plots,” said Kripa Singh, another farmer.

“The City Centre land was acquired 35 years ago using the urgency clause. The land continues to be vacant. We want it back,” he said.
This group of farmers will on Wednesday hold another panchayat at Atta.
Wave Infrastructure, a real estate firm, sealed the City Centre deal with Noida Authority in March.

The Authority sold about 162 hectares (6 lakh sqm) of land comprising two sectors (32 and 25A) to the developer.
