Layouts, sanctioning, construction and final safety approvals to build Airport will take 5-10 years. And even before that land acquisition for Airport alone will take a long time.

In BEST case scenario, Jewar Airport will only be ready by 2027.

Visited the site today, things seem to be picking up. I just hope it continues and we finally get our flats. I almost got pessimistic by reading this thread and comments made by some members. On a different note, a friend of mine is looking for a GC Flat. Any suggestions on price and resale would be highly appreciated.

CLOSE GET APP In 5 years, you could be flying from NCR’s second airport Vandana Keelor | TNN | Jun 25, 2017, 01.04AM IST Reuters file photo HIGHLIGHTS

              • The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority has notified 3,000 hectares in Jewar for the airport
              • The target is to have a capacity to handle 30-50 million passengers a year
              • Jewar airport is also targeting to reduce the pressure on Delhi airport
GREATER NOIDA/NEW DELHI: The National Capital Region could get its second airport, in Jewar, in five years. "In principle clearance has been granted," civil aviation minister Ashok Gajapathi Raju said at a press conference on Saturday, paving the way for acquiring 1,000 hectares (around 2,500 acres) for the first phase. The airport could be ready by 2022, minister of state for civil aviation Jayant Sinha told TOI.

The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) has notified 3,000 hectares in Jewar for the airport, with the first phase estimated to cost around Rs 10,000 crore.

This will include one runway, a terminal and other infrastructure, with the airport to be connected by road, rail and through a Metro link, Sinha said, adding that connectivity with Meerut and other parts of the state will be upgraded. The plan is to add three more runways with the total cost estimated between Rs 15,000 crore and Rs 20,000 crore.

The target is to have a capacity to handle 30-50 million passengers a year, compared with the 45 million passenger trips annually clocked at the current Mumbai airport and 25 million in Bengaluru. "Noida is emerging as an electronics hub and is already home to companies such as Samsung.
YOU MIGHT ALSO LIKEThe new airport will improve connectivity with Shenzhen (China), the current global hub for the sector, and South Korea. In addition, Apart from connecting western Uttar Pradesh, the Jewar airport is also targeting to reduce the pressure on Delhi airport, where capacity is expected to saturate given the 15% annual rise in passenger traffic.

From the current level of 62 million passengers per annum (MPPA), it is expected to reach 91 MPPA by 2020 and 109 MPPA by 2024. Plans are afoot to expand capacity with some airlines expected to move to Terminal 2 from October, along with the construction of a new Terminal 4 and renovation of the existing Terminal 1.

Sinha said Delhi International Airport Ltd will have the first right of refusal to build the new facility in Jewar following a bidding process.

It will be eligible to match the highest bid if its offer is within 10% of the bid.

DIAL, however, did not comment on the development. UP government officials said the concessionaire for the airport project, which has been named as Noida International Airport, is likely to be finalised by 2019.

According to YEIDA officials, site clearance is the first step for the airport project. "The site clearance has come on the basis of the obstacle limitation survey which was conducted by RITES, a government enterprise, and completed on May 30, 2017," said UP government's director for civil aviation Devendra Swarup.

YEIDA chairman Prabhat Kumar said the process of acquiring land from farmers will start soon as environmental clearance has already been obtained. "Although YEIDA has reserved 5,000 hectares for the project, we have notified 3,000 hectares of land for the project.

However, once a techno-feasibility study is done, a projection of predicted passenger traffic will determine how much area will be used for the airport. The plan will be to accommodate passenger traffic for the next 50-100 years," Kumar

Agree. I don't think the infrastructure was a major issue in any case. I think it's just an intent + ability issue. Intent is suspicious, and ability is very limited if not zero.
Deliveryof my flat has been promised in the Oct-Nov time range. No external factors can help jp finish this.
