So, what are the charges for damages done to rented furniture?

Rental Furniture? Amazing and equally crazy! We are commercialising everything! So much for innovative thinking or rather, a fake sense of lifestyle!

Back to the topic: I don't have a first hand experience but I think that some level of damages will be ignored by the company and only total damage must be something to ponder about.

Yes, they do consider such situations and so rental furniture comes with a damage waiver that ignores scratches, tears and rips, and wear and tear from regular use.

What is considered as wear and tear from regular use of rental furniture?

Well, companies dealing in rental properties define damage that renders the furniture functionally unusable. Any other wear and tear which does not cause functional damage to the furniture is not charged. The fine on damages is on a person to person basis.

Furniture on rent is for a very select few who have money enough to rent furniture but not to buy them and / or those who move around a lot and don't want to carry anything along.

coinwise you are right. Renting furniture is not something that a majority of people will do as most of them don't have the money required to do that or the lifestyle.

I haven't seen even one of my colleagues or know ones renting furniture so I don't know how feasible it is. But then my circle is not the ideal one for renting furniture - all have their own homes and won't move out of them and those living on rent are hardly managing the rent and other expenses

Well, I have not seen or heard about anyone in our circles renting furniture. I thin it is limited to those who have money enough to rent furniture but not to buy them and / or those who move around a lot and don't want to carry anything along like coinwise said.
