Chennai is witnessing a Mall xplosion........but sadly almost a majority are struggling to get the approval........

In the meanwhile the projects have been hyped up and many dont know when theses Malls will become actually opertaional.........

Added to this we have Property owners having prime lands in the city suddenly become Mall promoters by default........

Sadly these landlords are not aware of critical aspects of shopping centres nor about retail.......

The rentals charged by these Mall promoters are so unreasonable that there is no way Retailers will make money......

These Mall promoters must realize that the Retailers who lease out space from them are infact the most important stake holders for the Shopping centre. They define the character, brand image of the shopping centre and are not merely occupants paying Rent.

One model where the Shopping centre promoters also participate in running successful shopping centre will be to go in for Revenue Sharing model.....

What the promoters of Shopping centre need to aim is to build profitable Shopping centres from the Retailers point of view.They must realize that running a Shopping centre is a intensive and long term affair.

  • Chennai seems to hardly have a worthwhile mall, while Bangalore has mall almost every other locality.

  • This Malls does not have enough parking which cos a huge traffic jam too in the city specially week end. Mall w/o parking should not be allowed at all.
    And also becos of this high rental we are paying a huge amount to the Mall owner.
