Opposition against acquisition of village land for industrial zones and Special Economic Zones along KMP Expressway and other newly-marked areas is getting louder. Farmers of about 30 villages on Sunday announced that they will block all roads leading to Gurgaon on May 13. "About 10,000 farmers and their families would assemble in Manesar on March 13, organise a rally against the state government and private companies' move to acquire village land. After this, all the farmers would spread out to various entry points of Gurgaon and block traffic from neighbouring districts. A memorandum would also be submitted to the Gurgaon District Magistrate the same day," said Braham Parkash, the president of Kisan Majdoor Krishi Bhumi Bachao Sangharsh Samiti.

A decision to this effect was taken at a panchayat meeting in Mohammadpur village on Sunday The farmers indicated that March 13 could turn out to be an eventful day, when they might end up facing the wrath of the Haryana police. On April l5, about 1,000 people from 24 villages had assembled in Garoli village and raised slogans against the Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation's move to acquire land for institutional and industrial zones, as earmarked in the Gurgaon-Manesar Master Plan 2021. In December last year, HSIIDC had issued notices to farmers of seven vnages on either side of the proposed 135-km KMP Expressway for acquisition of 3,700 acres. The state government is planning a Global Corridor there. "We plough these fields for at least three crops a year and the water underground is not saline at all.
