Yes, i agree, but i am not too sure on the highlighted part, in the sense that the land may not be originally for agricultural use .
From, what i understand, land which has no claimants & doesn't have proper revenue records/ has dubious records gets termed as "Gair Mumkin Abadi" . I could be wrong here .CommentQuote0Flag

I'm considering buying a plot in a township but the plot is under a khasra which is marked as "Gair Mumkin Abadi".
Can anyone pls tell me what it means? I'm really concerned because other khasras are marked "Avasiya Pariyojanarthak".

Gair Mumkin Abadi or Abadi – Meaning of — “Abadi Deh” of a village, is the habitation of a village, enclosed by the “Lal Lakir” and contains houses of proprietors and non-proprietors — “Abadi Deh” should not be confused with “Gair Mumkin Abadi” or “Abadi” — Former expression denotes land within the “Lal Lakir” whereas the latter expression denotes habitation or inhabited structures. - Dear Manoj sir , I had a matter in which land situated in pre partion India (punjab) was to be classified as agricultural or non agri . The entries done in a jamabandi of an area have these urdu/pharsi phrases therefore when an entry of gair mumkin is made it simply means Not possible( to cultivate).
- As far as I understand, "Gair Mumkin" is to identify a non-revenue land & therefore can be sold/purchased as a residential plot. I am not sure though.CommentQuote0Flag

This looks to be something controversial & somewhat disputed . Better consult an RE Lawyer .

- Thank you Manoja, BuildersNCR and Harikrishan! I really needed a quick response but was not very hopeful of receiving one so this is a real pleasant surprise.
Though I get the sense that the plot is most likely permissible for purchase for residential use, but just the fact that the legal definition of "gair mumkin" is under challenge makes we very wary of buying this land. I've now asked the developer to suggest alternate plots that are classified as "avasiya prayojanarth", which would clarify that it's use is residential. (The plot is in Rajasthan)
