Feng Shui considers a water fountain as a medium to draw positive Chi into the house. It helps bring in serenity into the area. ube specific, it is said to bring in the energy of what they call the "water feng shui element". In Feng Shui, water is a symbol of wealth and prosperity.

Like we know, water can change it's form and has the freedom of smooth movement. Water is a vital need of every living being and hence by the mere activation of the water element in the house we can nourishes the Chi energy.

It helps bring in abundance and direct the smooth flow of life.

Besides, it is an aesthetic treat for all.

Thanks Malvish I had always heard about how good it is to have a water fountain at home but never researched about it much. And the thing is that there are hundreds of articles on every topic so it gets even more confusing to browse through them all and then pick the best of the lot.

So what kind of fountains are good or bad or are there some do's and don'ts like my main query was?

mmalhot yes it tends to get confusing when searching for tips online as there are many good ones and even misleading ones online. The fact that we have to pick the best and most genuine ones is a very daunting task. The thing is that there are many expert views and findings online and you have to spend time to pick the ones that align together in their understanding and explanation of things. That is what we do here - pick the best ones and share

            From the web-

Home Sutra: Vastu Tips For Water Fountains

Water fountains are not a modern décor feature. They were used centuries ago for decoration in palaces and royal households. Water is a versatile element that can be used to create a dramatic effect in the form of aquariums, fountains or mini waterfalls. The sound of moving water coupled with display of multi-colored lights make for an impressive yet soothing ambience in any residential or commercial space. However, water fountains demand regular maintenance. Care must be taken to clean and replace the water to prevent odour or dampness. Vastu also guides about the correct placement of objects with water features to capture the right energies.

            Directions

Fountains represent the Jal Tatva or water element and the flowing water indicates flow of money, happiness and love. The east, the north-east and the north are directions which are compatible with water decorative. Water fountains or showpieces with water element should not be kept in the south, the southwest, the west or the southeast zone. They should also not be placed in the middle of the property.

            Dos and don'ts
            • Fountains can be installed near the main entrance to keep away negative energies.
            • Water fountains or their paintings must not be kept in the bedroom. This can lead to anxiety and disturb harmony in relationships.
            • Ensure that the flow of water is continuous. This is because stagnant water can cause stagnation and hinder progress in life as well as loss of money.

            Thanks Malvish for your input!

mmalhot there is a specific manner of placing water fountains as per Feng Shui.

Placement of Water Fountains according to Feng Shui - Water Fountains should be kept in ares that offer and balance nourishing energies. The entrance of the house is considered the best to place a water fountain. Second best is the patio or the garden.

However, you should never place water fountains in bedroom areas as they tend to sour relationships, and also never near the stairways.

viccimal - Yes, asking them now. One thing that I wanted to know was whether we should place the fountain outside the house or inside the house?

Re : Water Fountains in Feng Shui: Do's and Don'ts

mmalhot - The water fountain, if possible, should mostly be kept outdoors, at the entrance of the house or the patio or garden as told earlier. However, not everyone can do that, so it can be kept inside in such cases.
