SP Shukhobrishti, claimed to be India's largest mass housing project, meant for the lower and middle-income groups of society, developed by construction major, Shapoorji Pallonji, is up for sale.
This mass housing development was a Rs 1500 crore project being developed by Bengal Shapoorji Housing Development (BSHD), a special purpose vehicle set up for the purpose.
In Phase-I, possession of the first 2000 apartments would be given in 24 months.
SP Shukhobrishti will have 20,000 dwelling units in the form of 12,000 one-BHK flats and 8,000 two-BHK flats with support facilities such as two primary schools, health centre, shopping arcade, provision stores, community centres, children's play area, amphitheatre, entertainment and two clubs, one of which will be a sports club, keeping in mind the rich sporting tradition of the city.
The township was located in Action Area-III in the New Town of Kolkata and was spread over an area of 150 acres
According to Shapoorji Pallonji & Company Limited, they are the first to sell apartments on carpet area basis and are looking forward to lot of enthusiasm and rush from the public.
Surbana International, the Singapore-based architect and consulting firm, provided the comprehensive design solution for the project with special emphasis on open spaces for community use.
Most of the flats in SP Shukhobrishti had been designed to have balconies overlooking open green spaces. The complex would have a central water body and jogging tracks, and had a ventilation design to catch the southerly breezes. The housings would include pay-by-use facilities like a club with swimming pool, and other amenities usually associated with high-income estates.
The 142-year old Shapoorji Pallonji & Co. Ltd. had earlier worked in Kolkata on projects as a contractor, on projects like the VSNL and 'Bartaman' buildings, the TCS and Cognizant complexes and the Ramakrishna Mission.
Shapoorji Pallonji's real estate division recently started work on an IT park in Kolkata alongside similar projects in Gurgaon, Manesar, Chennai and Nagpur.
